Chapter Seven

Amber interlocked her arm with Luna's. Her own hair brushed by as the gentle wind blew on. Luna and her were going out to eat at a restaurant. It was one of those restaurants that wasn't too fancy or casual... just how Amber liked it. So she wore denim shorts with a white blouse tucked inside. Her hair was half pulled up and she had kept it natural by allowing its waves to fall over her shoulders. Luna was dressed in a black skirt which reached past her hips. The red shirt that hid under her skirt was silky almost, even though it was only a smooth cotton.

The two of them enjoyed going out to eat with each other. They both loved spending time together in a relaxed place where they could simply talk. That was just what Amber needed, too. She was mentally drained from her constant attempts to become used to her new being. She had many scabs and bruises on her body due to the continuous but accidental pain she caused herself. She was terribly clumsy since she was not yet used to the new way her entire body functioned. Luna had helped her out in the best ways that she could, but Amber knew this was all really up to her to control and get used to.

"I already know what I'm going to order," Luna announced with a small smile.

The pair had been to this restaurant multiple times before and Luna always got the same dish.

"I had a feeling you did," Amber replied.

Luna giggled as they reached the entrance. She held the door open for Amber, who slid on into the building in one swift motion.

They were seated almost instantly and received a small table for two on the edge of one of the many walls. Luna and Amber had just grown comfortable when their waitress approached them. Amber didn't pay her much attention until she spoke up.

"Hello, I'm going to be your all's waitress tonight," she proclaimed in a voice that sent shivers down Amber's spine.

Amber grew the courage to raise her head to look over the woman. That voice. She knew that voice.

The woman wore a dark green polo with black jeans; what all the waitresses wore. Her hair was yanked into a high blond bun and her eyes were a dark hazel. Her appearance threw Amber off. Her voice was just like the palm reader's. It matched Alice's tone and sound exactly.

"Can I get you ladies anything to drink?" She offered in a voice that was way too cheery.

"I just want a red wine," Luna said to the menu she held. She didn't bother looking up from the menu and Amber did not know what she was looking it over for if she knew what she wanted.

The waitress turned to smile at Amber, who silently stared at her. She looked her up and down and then repeated the motion. Her face was shaped the exact same way Alice's had been. But everything else was different: her eye color, hair color, and size. In the tent Amber had joined Alice in, the woman appeared very slender and tall. But this woman was short and average weighted. Amber moved her eyes over the woman's shirt in search for a name tag of some kind. She felt extremely disappointed when she found nothing but green cloth.

"Are you alright?"

Amber shook her head and made eye contact with the waitress, who stared deep into her. She then glanced to Luna who was also staring at her with furrowed brows. She had not realized the way she had been inspecting the mysterious girl. She just wanted to know if that was her or not. It made no sense to Amber.

"I'll just have a water..." Amber mumbled. She quickly shot her eyes to the woman before looking away.

"I'll be back in a minute," the waitress declared before disappearing.
