Max's POV
Riley's father punched a wall, "Sebastian and I were beaten as kids. I was sticking it out so I could become chief. My father taught me to help others after he would...ya know...one day Sebastian was gone with a note that said I'm done."
"Chief I'm sorry...Riley's soul mission is to find me and bring me to him dead or alive." I murmured.
He turned and faced me, "Please...don't kill her..."
"I can't promise you that. She's working for the enemy now." I walked out of his house and into the village.
Speaking of Snoggletog...
"I know I know. We'll go." I climbed on his back.
"Max wait!" Her father came out. "Please. Reach out to her. Tell her to come home."
I nodded, "I'll do my best."
Shadow took off towards Dragon's Edge.
I laid back and stared at the sky, "That was one of the hardest things I ever had to do."
You didn't have to be harsh you know.
"What was I supposed to do? Lie to him?! Tell him I can't kill his daughter. I may not have a choice." I murmured.
You have a point.
"We have a hard life my dear reptile friend." I smirked patting his back.
Yes we do. Hey we're here.
Shadow landed on the deck and I climbed off.
"Max!" Dad yelled coming out of the common area. "How'd you get out?!"
I took the fire sword out of its sheath in my leg, "This might've helped. Well the cartridges actually. Long story. Maybe another time."
"You're bleeding!" He pointed out.
"Nah that healed. It's just the stain." I shrugged it off. "Where's Jack?"
"The cliffs on the back side of the island. He's mad because he couldn't go after you." Hiccup said.
"I'll be back." I climbed on Shadow and he flew off.
Shadow quietly landed behind him and I got off. I slowly walked next to him and put my hand on his shoulder. He looked down at me with surprise. He pulled me to him and kissed me softly.
"I missed you..." He whispered.
"I missed you too..." I replied.
"You're bleeding." He pointed out.
"It's a stain. The wound healed." I grabbed his hand pulled him towards our dragons. "Come on. Let's go home."
We headed back to the common area to see my dad have dinner ready.
"Max are you going to stay for Snoggletog tomorrow?" My father asked.
"Yeah. Someone suggested I'd spend it with family for once." I glanced at Shadow.
Your human family not your reptilian family.
I patted his head and sat at the table, "I feel bad I didn't get you guys anything. I've been busy tracking Anarchy."
"No sweat Max. You're here now." Jack sat next to me and kissed my temple.
"You didn't have to take my extra fire sword." Dad exclaimed. "I made you your own." He tossed it to me. "Specially made for your purposes."
I clicked the button and the sword expanded. It looked a lot more like my own sword than his fire sword and had a deep orange almost red fire coating it.
"Sick." I clicked the button and set it on the table.
That Night
Jack and I were lying in bed together, cuddling.
"Have you ever thought about the future?" Jack asked me suddenly.
"No." I replied. "I never thought about the future. I gave that up a long time ago."
"Why?" He wondered.
"When Shadow first took me, for the first few months I was scared and thought about what my parents might be like. But then I stopped. One day Shadow explained to me the world needed me to be their hero." I responded.
"I want us to get married someday." Jack whispered in my ear.
"When all of this is over."
