Chapter 20

Max's POV

"I guess I'll have to persuade you." Sebastian said.

I glanced at Shadow and mouthed 'I'm sorry'. He brought out the whip and moved to the side of Shadow. Riley shifted uncomfortably behind me.

CRACK!

"NO!" I yelled. "LEAVE HIM ALONE!"

"You can stop this!" He shouted. CRACK!

Shadow growled in pain.

CRACK!

I started to struggle against the ropes that bounded my wrists. I felt them loosening. This was not the plan.

I tore the ropes and launched myself across the room. I tackled Shadow out of the way. I tore the muzzle off of him and the chains.

You okay?

"Plan's been moved up." I said getting off of him.

I winked and took off out of the room and down the hall.

"AFTER HER!" Sebastian yelled.

I turned a corner to see Riley with her sword out.

"Follow me." She said.

She tore down the hallway and I followed her. She killed a few men on the way and entered a room. I found my cloak and put that on. She handed me the rest of my weapons including my staff. I spun it over my head and slammed it on the ground.

As the island rumbled Riley stumbled, "The Hell did you just do?"

"Called for backup. Let's go. We need to head back to the arena." I said.

"Why?" She asked.

"There's one more thing I gotta do." I took off down the hallway.

I could hear Riley's footsteps on my heels. I skidded to a halt in front of Moonshine's cell.

What happened to the plan?

"It's been moved up." I cut the locks and yanked the door open.

Moonshine leaped on top of me and licked my face.

"Yeah. We gotta go." I insisted shoving him off.

Okay body. You gotta heal. I felt the familiar minor pain as the whip marks closed up.

I'll go help Shadow.

Moonshine flew away.

"What's next?" Riley asked.

"We need to find Sebastian." I replied.

The chain-link barrier around the arena exploded. Toothless and Windspark landed in the center.

"What are you guys doing here?!" I demanded.

"Well we came to break you out but it looks like you got that covered." Hiccup answered getting off of Toothless.

"I need you two to get to Shadow and Moonshine. They should be in the village." I ordered. "Riley you need to find Smoke."

"You're not going anywhere." A group of vikings flooded into the arena and surrounded us.

I spun my sword in my hand, "Says who?"

"All of you will come with us." He continued. "Or face the consequences."

"No one says consequences anymore. It's lame." I snapped.

Hiccup snorted.

"MAX WATCH OUT!" Riley yelled.

I tried to turn my head but I felt a sword plunge into my back and out my chest. I coughed up some blood and fell to the ground as the sword was pulled out.
