Chapter 15

Max's POV

I tried to stand up but I ended up staggering against the table.

"Max!" My dad put his arm around me and helped me sit down.

You poured all of your energy into Shade. It's going to take a while for you to get it back.

"I can't believe it worked." I repeated.

"So it was never proven that you could actually do that?" My dad asked.

I shook my head, "No. People have tried and died from it. I just...had to try..."

You need to tell him.

"There's one other thing you should probably know." I grabbed my staff and stumbled outside.

I waved it over my head and tapped it on the ground. The island shook and the Bewilderbeast rose from the waters.

You called?

"My dad should probably see that you're on the good side." I stated.

"Are you out of your mind?!?!" My dad yelled.

"Dad. He's on my side!" I insisted. Toothless started to glow blue. "Toothless stand down!!!!" I glared at him. "STAND! DOWN!"

Toothless backed away, sorry...

"The Bewilderbeast is my friend. I trust him!" I said.

If you must know there's an Anarchy ship leaving the island. I saw it leave a few hours ago before you summoned me.

"What did he say?!" Hiccup asked.

"I have to go!" I sheathed my staff and started to walk away from the house. I collapsed on the ground and groaned.

Max what have you done?!

"Hypothetically, I discovered that you actually can heal someone." I murmured and leaned on my staff, standing up.

I will take care of the ship for you.

"Thanks..." I said.

The Bewilderbeast went away and Shadow came out. He helped me on him and went back into the house.

"Maybe I'll rest for a while." I sat down at the table.

"I'll make some breakfast." My father said.

"Hey where's Jack?" I asked.

"I left him to hold down the fort." He replied.

How are you feeling?

I smirked, "Been better. How are you?"

Dad slid a plate across from me, "You might feel better if you eat."

She lost a lot of energy.

"Shade he can't speak to wolves." I pointed out taking a bite.

Hours Later

I'm back and I have a prisoner.

"What?!" I got up and went outside. "How did you..."

Turns out I still have some old fashioned alpha powers.

He dropped a large cage on the ground. There was Riley unconscious and her dragon, Smoke trying to fight his way out.

"Smoke. Stop." I commanded.

Max this is crazy. Just let us go.

I turned to the Bewilderbeast, "Thank you..."

He turned and left going into the depths of the ocean.

"Max what are you supposed to do?" Hiccup asked.

I shrugged, "I don't take prisoners."

Max. Please.

"Why are you doing this Smoke?" I demanded. "You don't have to."

It's Riley. She said was tired of being second. Behind you. Sebastian...he offered her a chance to kill you, she took it.
