"SAMMIE NOO!!" I jumped up out of my sleep in coldsweats. I had a nightmare... At least I thought so. I couldn't really remember. All I remember is the sound of a car crash, and an unfamiliar voice yelling my name. But its just a dream. Its not like this dream could actually come true... right?
I looked at the clock on the nightstand, next to my bed and it said 5:30 a.m. In about an hour, I'll usuall be up and getting ready for school. So I might as well get ready now. New year, new school, new friends, new life. Am I ready is the real question. My answer, no. I'm excited but not ready.
When I came out of the shower, it was quiet, I felt like I was the only one in the house. And it always felt weird. Every morning, I wake up at the same time, and do the same things. I just moved down to Scottsdale, Arizona this summer. With the population of 221,020 people. ( Which is nothing compared to New York City- a wopping 8.245 million.) There's two ways this first day can go- good or even great because it's usually not that hard for me to make friends- seeing that I'm so outspoken. Or really bad. Everyone just might hate me, because I'm so outspoken. But I'll hope for the best.
Now of course living in "The Big Apple" for practically all my life, and then having to move to a small town like Scottsdale, I knew I had to do some serious shopping before I left. I have two closets, three suitcases and two more dressers worth of dresses, skirts, shirts, shorts, sneakers, heels, flats, sandals even flip flops. Oh, don't forget the jewelery. All kinds of stores like Zara, Forever XXI, Bloomingdales, Jeffery, Jimmy Jazz, Tiffany& CO., Yellow Rat Bastard, Karma Loop, Urban Outfitters, Mistique Boutique NYC, Armani Exhange, etc. And the hottest designers like Dolce & Gabana, Micheal Kors, Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, etc. But even though I have a love for nice things I am NOT one of those little snobby rich kids who show off. I may be rich, but I work for everything I own. Ive been planning my first day of school outfit since I went shopping. Before, I took my clothes out of the closet, I quickly ran down the stairs to check if my mom was awake. It was awfully quiet in the house so she was probably still asleep. Or so I thought.. Before I could even get to her bedroom, I saw a note on the island that read:
"Sam,
I went to the grocery store. I should be back before you leave. But if not, just buy something to eat.
- Mom"
Thats weird. Why would she go grocery shopping so early in the-
"Sam!? Honey I'm home!" There she was at the door. "Hey! I have to finish getting ready!" I yelled back while running up the stairs realizing the time. I quickly put on my dress. One that looked like a dress Ariana Grande would wear. A doder blue short-sleeve floral inprint pattern dress. It had a low back line. I put my white pearl earings on. And a silver chain from Juicy Couture. I laced my wrists with the matching silver Juicy Couture bracelet. As I did my hair and makeup, one of my favorite songs came on. Which was so ironic seeing that it was "Just The Way You Are" by Bruno Mars.
I quickly curled the ends of my hair, slipped on my white flats and went downstairs. I think I rushed a little more because of the great food I was smelling. "Morning hon. Oh you look very pretty today! I love that dress on you!" I noticed how chipper she was. "Morning, you seem very happy today. What's up?" I asked while trying to peek at the mystery, yummy smelling food in the sizzling frying pan that she was standing over. "Mmmm bacon." I grinned while rubbing my empty stomach. "Well, I told you yesterday that I wanted to make you a special breakfast this morning, so I am. And, I have a little help." A smile spread across her face as she turned back and forth from the stove to the island. "Wait. Who-"
"Becky! Where do you want this?" I heard Mark yell as he was walking out of her bedroom and through the kitchen. "Oh. Hey Samster! You look very pretty this morning." Mark is my mom's boyfriend. "I did'nt know he was eating with us." I guess it's pretty obvious that I don't like Mark. He just gives me a bad vybe. That sick feeling in my stomach, whenever he comes around. "So Mark why are you eating with us? Don't you have a son? Shouldn't you be eating with him? At your own house?"
"Samantha!" She stopped me dead in my tracks. She had the usual look that she had when I would say something 'smart' to Mark.
"Naw it's alright. You'll meet him soon." When he said this, he glanced at my mother. " He wanted to eat with his friends before they went off to school. You know how jocks are.." My mom made that face, teasing me. "Yes she does!" She said while making kissing noises at me.
"Eww what is wrong with you?" I jokingly snapped back. Yes, I have had my fair share of jocks. But it was never anything serious. "Speaking of relationships, Mark would you like to tell me why mom is just so happy today?" I had to ask since she just couldn't keep a straight face and she just kept glancing at Mark with this damn smile. My God, it was like I was the parent and she was the teenager sometimes. He must've known why she was acting this way. "You didn't tell her yet?" He asked her. Me with a puzzled look on my face as I furrowed my eyebrows. "Tell me what?"
"I was going to wait untill when she came home from school, Mark." She told him completely ignoring me now. I hate that. "Mom!" I now yelled getting annoyed by the fact that they were acting like I wasn't even there. "What are you guys talking about?!" Now I got their attention. "I'll tell you when you come home from school." She repeated what she had told Mark to me. "As a matter of fact, you should be off to school right about now. Before you end up late. We'll talk about this when you get home." She sternly said to me while looking at her watch. I was going to make an argument but because I took a quick glance at my phone and realized the time, all I could say was, "Fine." before I picked up my bag and headed for the front door. "Later! Love you!" was what I said when I got up to the door, reaching for my car keys. I heard them say the same thing in return as I walked out. I saw Mrs. Finley walking out of her house with her dog Jackson. I quickly waved to Mrs. Finley as I ran to the driveway since I forgot to put my car in the garage. I hopped in my Benz and drove off to school.
