Chapter 14: An Uchiha is Born [Naruto]

Rin

I slowed to a stop breathing hard as I put my hand firmly against a tree. I coughed a few times before finally catching my breath. I wasn't sure how far I ran, but the moon was already high in the sky and the village was know where in sight. I didn't care; I didn't want to be there. There was too much confusion, too much hurt, and I honestly didn't know what was going on.

"Why…" I asked myself but I had no answer for that. There was nothing. I saw him, my own brother murder Shisui Uchiha. His best friend. I was supposed to meet him for training, and then there he was. I didn't know what to do, who to tell, what to think. Part of me was afraid the other part wanted to confront him. I know he's been acting different, I know everything Kakashi was saying was right but he was my brother.

"Princess what are you doing all the way out here?" I activated my sharingan the second I heard the voice and pulled the kunai from its hiding place in the pouch under my dress. I spun it in my hand and turned whipping it forward but there was no one. Only a few hairs that fell to the ground. I sighed then. I must have been hearing things.

"We'll your senses are sharp and your getting faster, it's good to know the training is paying off" I pulled another kunai ready to throw it when someone grabbed my wrist. I turned then only to meet the dark eyes of Itachi. I felt the familiar fear beginning to build as I tried to pull from his grip.

"Let me go!"

"Rin it's me, its Itachi…"

"I know who you are!" I felt the tears as I glared up at him.

"Now let me go!"

"Rin I'm your brother!"

"No you’re not you jerk now let me go!"

"Rin enough!" I used my left hand and pulled another kunai. I spun it in my hand and jammed it into his leg and he jumped back or at least tried to. I turned again and threw the one in my right hitting just below the rib cage. He fell to the ground as he looked up at me.

"R-Rin how could you…" I tossed another kunai in my hand as I walked to him.

"I could because you’re not my brother, first you called me Princess and Itachi has never called me Princess. Second you didn't have your sharingan activated, third I can see your chakra level; it's too low to be Itachi's and fourth Itachi would have been able to dodge every attack I threw at him" The man stared at me as spun the kunai in my hand. He laughed then.

"So your smarter than you look Princess" I smirked slightly as I raised the kunai.

"I'm an Uchiha" I would have stabbed him then if someone hadn't grabbed my wrist. I fought against their grip but they held and finally I looked up meeting the sharingan eyes of my father.

"Dad…" I breathed. He sighed as he pulled the kunai from my hand.

"I will not have your hands tainted with an others blood" I felt another hand grab my other arm.

"Itachi take Rin home, the others and I will take care of this" I felt slightly numb as Itachi picked me up and I let my head fall to his shoulder. I left my Sharingan activated as we began walking off. I didn't trust anyone right now.

 

Itachi

I held Rin as I began the walk to the village. Once it hit ten then father decided it was time to go out and search for her. She was known where in the village and we had feared the worse until Kakashi's dogs had caught her scent.

"I can walk" She whispered. I sighed.

"Kakashi told me you ran off, we don't need that happening again" She sighed then.

"Just put me down"

"We'll get there faster if I carry you"

"I said put me down!" She never yelled at me and that's what made me stop and look at her. Her sharingan eyes stared into mine and I put her down but I didn't let her go.

"Rin, what's wrong?" I reached for her but she flinched away. Her eyes suddenly shut tight.

"Rin…" I let her go then and watched as she backed into a tree. Her eyes looked back at me as they faded to their dark shade and I noticed the tears that began to fall down her cheeks.

"Are you scared of me?" She wiped her eyes only to have more tears fall.

"Yes, no I-I don't know, I don't want to be" I kept my distance even when she fell to her knees and began sobbing.

"Why?" She looked up again no longer trying to hold back her tears.

"Because I saw you kill Shisui" I froze then as I stared at her and she stared back.

"Just tell me that wasn't you Itachi, tell me it wasn't you a-and I'll believe you. Please just say it and things can go back to how they were" She was there, it had been her chakra that I had sensed.

"I-I can't" I felt the tears threatening my eyes as she stood up. All this time she knew, all this time she kept it a secret. I felt two small hands on my face and she lifted my face to look at hers.

"Why?" I put my hands over hers as I looked into her eyes.

"I-I can't tell you Rin, not yet" She closed her eyes then and I could feel her grip tighten slightly on my face. I noticed her nod and she finally looked at me then.

"I haven't told anyone" I nodded slightly.

"Why?" She smiled and slightly sad smile.

"Because you’re my big brother and I'll always protect you" I felt a tear fall and I wiped it quickly before laughing slightly.

"I'm sorry Rin" I wiped the tears off her cheek and smiled slightly.

"For what?"

"For asking so much of you. To think that I would depend on the protection of my five year old sister" I pushed aside her bangs and kissed her forehead before picking her up again.

"I love you Rin" I mumbled softly to her as she rested her head again on my shoulder.

"I love you too Itachi" She mumbled back and with those words I could feel the tears at my heart. She was making things harder than it already was and it was at this moment only that I wished she wasn't so advanced.
