Chapter 24: An Uchiha is Born [Naruto]

Suki

I stared at the entrance to the Uchiha compound taking a slow breath, this is what he meant, all this time this is what he meant.

“Captain Suki, orders?” I released another slow breath and pulled up my mask.

“Search for survivors, tape off the entrance I don’t want anyone coming in or out of here” They nodded running forward following my orders. I slowly stepped in walking the quiet streets and trying to ignore the fallen bodies and blood seeming to cover every inch of the walls and ground. It was a massacre; there couldn’t possibly be any survivors. I noticed movement in the corner of my eye and turned quickly.

“What the…” I broke into a sprint following the movement. There was someone, someone was alive.

“Hey stop!” I turned a corner sliding to a stop only to find no one.

“Where…” I would have screamed if a hand hadn’t covered my mouth and pulled me back. I turned breaking their grip and swung my leg. They blocked the kick with surprising ease as they caught my ankle and pushed back causing me to slam into a wall.

“Suki enough” I froze recognizing the voice.

“Itachi…” I breathed. I stared at him unable to move my body and noticed the tomes in his eyes spinning. This was his genjutsu.

“You never had any hope in defeating me; I’m making this easier for you…”I glared at him as I sunk to floor unable to hold my weight. I knew he was right, I knew my strength but I knew Itachi’s was greater.

“They were your family Itachi. Sasuke was your brother and Rin, Rin was your little sister!” I managed to shout before his hand again clasped over my mouth.

“Not so loud.” He threatened kneeling down to my level and outside I could hear the faint running of footsteps.

“I need you to listen to me; Sasuke and Rin are still alive…”

“Why should I listen to you, when you lied to me” I shot back and noticed him sigh.

“It was your own carelessness and stupidity that you couldn’t see past my façade, that’s your speciality isn’t it? Reading people? Seems my charm worked even on you Suki.” I felt the heat in my cheeks and formed another glare.

“This has nothing to do with us Itachi; you’re a cold hearted murderer.”

“You see what you want to see Suki, just remember your promise.” I seemed to blink and he was gone. I sighed finally able to move my arms and stretched out slowly before getting back to my feet. I would go after him, but trying to keep up with Itachi is like trying to mix oil and water; it just didn’t work.

“Captain Suki! Captain Suki!” I stepped from the ally as an Anbu slid in front of me.

“I think we found something you would want to see.” I raised my eyebrow and ran after him as he took off. It wasn’t a long ways and soon I slid to a stop in one of the main halls of the compound. I froze staring at two small bodies. The smaller of two laid fallen on top the other, her hair falling into the wet earth. The other simply faced upwards with the rain sliding off his face.

“Oh my god” I ran to their side sliding in the mud as I knelt beside them praying that they were alive. I could feel my hands shaking as I pressed my fingers against each of their necks.

“Captain Suki?”

“They’re alive” I breathed in disbelief.

“They’re alive” He echoed as I carefully lifted Rin off Sasuke and into my arms. I felt the tears beginning to well in my eyes as I stared down at her small frame. Even in her unconscious state I could see the burden she held, the sadness that was already in her heart.  Around her neck were deep bruises and I released a sigh as I saw that was the only real damage done, at least physical. I looked down at Sasuke and noticed blood seeping through his sleeve. For once he was more injured.

“You grab Sasuke; we’ll take them to the hospital immediately.” He nodded lifting Sasuke carefully into his arms and I could hear his footsteps behind me as I begin the walk to the main entrance. I held Rin a little tighter against me and snuck a glance back at Sasuke. They were still alive, just as he said. I sighed lightly and shook my head; I guess the cold hearted Uchiha still had a heart for his little siblings.
