Love Is In The Sky (Harry)
His ears caught the beautiful melody and became alert, like a deer’s when they sense the slightest movement. He could hear it in bits, someone was playing the piano. Whoever it was, was bloody good. He was impressed. He put down his cup of morning coffee and let his ears lead him out of his house. Suddenly a beautiful voice started flowing. She was singing Unfaithful, by Rihanna. But a slower version, only led by the piano. He was fascinated. Following his ears, he stood outside his neighbour’s house, outside Anna, aka Anaconda’s house. Yeah, Harry thought calling her that was hilarious.
NO WAY WAS THAT HER. SHE CANT SING FOR NUTS.
Anna. She was… she was wonderful, Harry thought. He had grown to really like his neighbour. She was unfazed about the fact that she was Harry Styles’ neighbour, she was his coffee and movie buddy. She was also his fashion police. One thing she couldn’t do was sing. She sounded like a cross between a choking animal and a toilet flush. Seriously. And with her sharp tongue, Anaconda was almost the perfect name for her. But, there’s always a ‘but’ isn’t there? But…He had no idea how it happened or when it happened, he fell for her. Hoping that she felt the same, he asked her out just be answered with an apologetic “No.” but Harry didn’t give up. It wasn’t like him to give up. He was Harry Styles, very used to girls throwing themselves at him. But he wanted just one girl, Anna. Unfortunately, she didn’t see him that way. He kept hitting on her, hoping once, just once she would melt and agree to go out with him.
He stood there, outside her door, contemplating about whether he should knock or not. But that voice. That voice held him there. He couldn’t move. Just stood there, frozen.
Inside, she was singing her heart out. When she saw a piano in front of her, she couldn’t resist it. She stopped unpacking, leaving everything as it was, untidy. She pulled out a stool, wiped a thick layer of dust off the piano and started playing. Without realising, she was singing. And without realising, she was LOUD.
Her singing got interrupted by a knocking on the door. And if she heard it correctly, she heard someone shout ‘anaconda’. She must be going crazy.
Assuming it was her stuff that her friend Kim had shipped, she jumped over the boxes and ran to the door, flinging it open.
Out of all people that could be standing behind that door, this face was the last she expected. Her expression of shock was mirrored in his.
“Y-Y-You’re not anaconda.” He stuttered.
She blinked a couple of times. What exactly was happening? After finally managing to compose herself just a little bit, she spoke.
“I’m not sure you’re at the right place if you’re looking for snakes.” She said, trying to act normal, even though she was actually far from it.
“Erm…” he shifted uncomfortably. “I-I mean Anna. Is she here?” he asked, peeping over my shoulder.
“Oh, no actually we’ve switched homes for a few weeks.” I told him. I saw both hurt and confusion written all over his face.
After a few seconds of silence, he decided to clear his doubts. “What do you mean, switched homes?” he raised his eyebrows.
“You know… like she’s staying in my house and I’m in hers. Like The Holiday? The movie?” She explained.
“I understood that…but why?” he asked, trying to understand better. Why didn’t Anna even tell him? He was hurt. He thought she thought of him as a really good friend, if nothing more. They why?
“We met over the internet. Thing is, I needed a break from my life, I guess she felt the same way.” She explained again. He looked uncomfortable outside her house. “How do you know her?” she enquired.
