How I became Savannah Solo Part 1

Saturday April 18th

I woke up at 8 and got dressed for our recovery day and went down stairs to eat. Hope came and sat next to me.

Hope: So we don't have a game for the next two weeks and I know you need to go back to school so I booked you a flight back home. You will fly out tomorrow. You will fly in to Houston and then switch planes to fly into Shreveport.

Me: Oh that's a lot sooner than I thought it would be.

Hope: Yeah but you shouldn't miss any more school.

Me: Yeah true

Hope: Also after we have the meeting to change your name we have a meeting with your new PR since you will now have my name.

Me: Wow okay that's a lot.

Hope: I know but you will be glad you have one and we need to go before we are late for recovery sessions.

Me: Okay let's go.

Hope and I got into the car and went to the facility. We got in the pool and did the stretches and small game. Hope and I shared and ice bath and then we were free to leave. We changed out of our wet clothes and headed to Hope's lawyers office. Our meeting took about an hour but we finalized all of the paperwork and I made my new signature on the paper next to Hope's.

We finished with Hope's lawyer and went to go meet my PR Kathrine Young. We got to her office and went in.

Kathrine: Hi I am Kathrine Young. You must be Savannah and Hope Solo.

Hope: Yes I am Hope and this is Savannah

Kathrine: Okay great so Savannah first tell me your full name, any nicknames, age, what school you go to, and all sport teams and clubs you are on.

Me: Okay this is going to be a lot. My full name is now Savannah Blaire Solo my nickname thanks to Hope is Baby Horse. I am 16 and a sophomore at West Point High School. For school I do Biology club, Latin club, NJHS, and in the 4.0 club. School sports I do soccer and cheer. Outside of school I am on the U-20 national team and now Seattle Reign.

Kathrine: Wow that's a lot more than I expected but okay now what endorsements.

Me: I have two currently. They are Nike and Beats by Dre they are both contracted for 2 years

Kathrine: Okay what about family and relationships.

Me: I live with my mom and dad, Brenda and Dave Reed. I have a sister Chloe she goes to Mississippi State. I have a boyfriend, Brad Evens.

Kathrine: Great now what social media.

Me: Instagram, twitter, snapchat, Pinterest, Tumblr.

Kathrine: okay that's a lot to get official but I will let you know when each thing is finalized.

Me: Well you don't have to on Tumblr and Pinterest.

Kathrine: Okay so I will call you when information is released about you or about interviews that companies wants to set up

Me: Okay great thank you.

Kathrine: Well then I think we are all done here. Thank you for meeting with me. When do you fly back home?

Me: I will be flying out tomorrow.

Kathrine: Well it was great meeting you Hope and Savannah I will be in contact soon.

Me: Thank you. Bye

Hope: Bye

Hope and I got in the car and went home. When we got back Kelley was up and had made us sandwiches.

Kelley: Hey so how was your meetings?

Me: I feel like I just told my whole life story

Hope: Well you practically did but that's how I felt too so don't worry.

Kelley: Well I think you should call your coaches about your name change so they hear it from you first.

Me: Good point. I will call after I eat and then pack after.

Kelley: Okay well I have already packed my stuff so it won't be in your way.

Me: Okay thanks.

I ate quickly and then went to my room. I decided to text coach Barron first.

Me: Hey, so I'm letting you know first. 1 I am flying back home tomorrow and 2 I have changed my last name from Reed to Solo for multiple reasons. I can tell you when I'm back if you want.

Barron: Wow that's big but I get the name change, thank you for telling me. Plus it will be great to have our now national player back so we can properly congratulate you.

Me: Yeah I know and I miss the girls to, anyways thank you for understanding.

Barron: No problem. I will see you at school.

Once I finished texting Barron I then texted Coach French.

Me: Hey this is Savannah; I'm just making sure you hear it from me that my last name is now Solo for different reasons. I hope you understand. If this causes any problems just let me know.

Coach French: Thank you for telling me and there's no problem.

Me: Okay just making sure thank you.

I also sent a text to my cheer coach but she didn't respond right away. Once I had finished all of my texts I turned on some music and started packing. I packed all of my soccer stuff into the large suitcase which included 3 pairs of cleats 3 pairs of tennis shoes, travel suit, 2 pairs of socks, 5 shirts, 4 shorts, 6 sports bras and sliders and my Seattle Reign uniform. I put all of my regular clothes plus my 2 duffle bags in the medium suitcase. In my back pack I put my Beats, books, and phone charger so I would have them on the plane. By the time I finished packing it was dinner time. I headed down stairs to eat and then watch a movie with Hope and Kelley. We ate and then started our movie. The movie ended at 11 so we decided to stay up and talk.

Me: So Squirrel what are you going to do when you get back to New Jersey?

Kelley: Well we have a game so probably just training with Sky Blue.

Hope: This house is going to be so empty when you both leave. I'm going to miss you two.

Me: Awe I will miss you too Hope.

Kelley: So I know you have school but what will you be doing when you get home?

Me: I want to redo my whole room.

Hope: ooh really.

Me: Yeah my sister moved out so I want to make my room larger and with a bigger closet.

Kelley: Ooh send me pictures.

Me: Okay I will send you the before and after pictures

Hope: Well it is 12:30 so I am going to bed

Me and Kelley: Yeah same.

The 3 of us went upstairs and Kelley and I got ready for bed. Kelley and I climbed into bed and Kelley turned towards me.

Kelley: I'm really glad that I have gotten the chance to meet you Baby Horse, you are really going to go far in life I already know it.

Me: Awe Squirrel thank you so much and really until high school I really never had anyone believe in me and I mean  now I do but that coming from you means so much more.

Kelley and I hugged and then both feel asleep.
