How I became Savannah Solo Part 1

Friday April 17th

    

       I woke up at 8 and went down stairs to eat. Hope came down at 8:30 and said we were leaving at 9. I went back upstairs and woke Kelley. I got ready and put a small section of my hair in braid to keep my bangs up. I put the rest of my hair and added in the braid into a high ponytail. I grabbed my soccer bag and headed to the car. Kelley came out and got in and then finally Hope got in and we left. We got to the facility and went into the locker room. All of our jerseys were already hanging up so I changed and put on all my gear. I climbed into my locker and put on my headphones. I listen to my music for little bit and then headed out for warm ups. We went through our stretches and shooting drill and then went to the bench for positions. It was the same people who started last week so I got to start again. I walked to the water cooler when Alex came up behind me.

Alex: Baby Horse. Huh let me guess Hope gave it to you?

Me: Yeah she did

Alex: Well I like it. It fits you well.

Me: Yeah I know.

We finished talking and then went back to our teams. We took the field and had kick off. Rapinoe touched it to me and I sent it back to the mid field. I took off running down the middle when they finally sent it to the corner for Rapinoe. Rapinoe got it and faked out the defender and sent it across. It came straight to me and I flicked it to the right upper corner past the goalie making it 1-0. The other team set back up for their kick off. They sent it back to their defense but it wasn't hard enough so I was able to run in and take a touch past the defender and to the box. I shot from 20 yards out and the goalie missed it making it 2-0. The other team had kick off and they managed to keep possession. They made a cross to Alex who shot but Hope saved it easily. Hope punted it up to the field to me. I chested it and turned with it when the ref blew the whistle for half time.

Halftime was short and we headed back onto the field. The only change I our lineup was that Haley went in goal for Hope. The other team had kick off and kept the ball. The made a cross but their forward missed it and Haley was able to grab it. Haley sent it the outside back who tried sending it to a midfielder. Alex was faster and won the ball and took her shot. Haley missed it make the score 2-1. We had the kick off now and I sent it back to our midfield. Our midfield brought the ball up the field and one of them made a through ball past to defense. I ran onto and made my shot making the score 3-1. The game ended shortly after with no other goals. My team headed to the locker room and I saw the reporter who interviewed me last week now interviewing Alex. I got to the locker room and changed. We got in the car and headed to the restaurant for dinner. We finished dinner and Hope, Kelley and I headed back to the house. We got home and Kelley started congratulating me on my goals.

Kelley: Baby Horse those goals were amazing!

Hope: I don't think I could have saved those.

Me: Thank you that means a lot and oh I decided

Hope: Well what is it?

Me: I want to take your last name.

Hope: Really!?

Me: Yes together we can be the Solo duo.

Hope: Yes we can!

Kelley: My two Solos!

Hope: Okay we can go do the paperwork tomorrow.

Me: That's fine. I am going to go call my mom.

Hope: Well I am going to bed.

Kelley: Me too I am tired.

Me: I won't be long.

I took my phone out and called my mom.

Mom: Hey Savannah I watched a feed of your game tonight. You were great.

Me: Thank you and I am calling to let you know I have made my decision.

Mom: Okay.

Me: I know it might hurt you but I decided to go Solo.

Mom: It does hurt a little but I am glad you did it will help get your name out and that all i want for you.

Me: Well I'm going to bed so bye I love you

I hung up and then climbed in bed and went to sleep.
