11. SWEET BUT BITTER
I was just sitting there, trying to catch your eye again
I thought that this was my time
I have been waiting until this moment for so long
And for it to turn to reality is just so unreal for me.
Like always, there has to be a boulder in my path
Like a building affected by an earthquake
My dreams and fantasies come crashing down, injuring me in places unseen
I look at the ruins of my once beautiful world, crying inside.
They drone on how you went to see her when she was sick
You held her hand and waited until she was asleep
A story worth of many "Aww" s was a hammer, breaking my soul into pieces
Just like the times before, my whole existence disintegrated.
Both of you are like stars
Brightening up every dark corner in the world, only darkening my corner
I choke on my tears, my words and hear myself breaking for the umpteenth time
As I laugh and joke around with you, throwing praises that I really tried hard to be heartfelt.
Just days ago, I was imagining us like that
Right now, it seems like ages ago
It seems like the moment just shattered into billions of pieces
And was sucked into a vortex, never to be seen again.
One chance was all I needed, all I wanted
Seems like the Fairy Godmother wanted her to be your Cinderella
And me to be a mere observer, just watching- never getting closer
Thus, my ball gown hangs untouched, my glass shoes sit gleaming as the shards I've broken into.
Every sweet moment you share with her
Are the dreams I spun in my imaginary world
Is that a mere coincidence, or do I know you too well?
Well, it's just painful that your sweetest moments are my bitter ones.
