16. Love

What's Love (in a romantic sense)?

Isn't this love very popular? We see many movies, books and commercial advertisements based on this concept. We feel like we know what the meaning of true love is, we have seen the image of love, we've felt it in the pages of a book and in the scenes of a movie. But actually is that true love? Maybe it is, maybe it's not. Definition of true love differs from person to person.

But how do you know if that's your Mr. Right? (I can only speak up for girls)

When the right person comes over, whatever your pre-conceived notion of love is...it'll most probably fade away, replaced by a better version. And you can throw away your 'Perfect Boyfriend List' where you hoped to tick off all the check boxes because let's be real, you can't find that one guy who is all your fictional boyfriends made into one single person. You will find some qualities in him but not every quality. Let me tell you, it doesn't matter. You don't need the 'Perfect Boyfriend'. None of us are perfect humans anyway, we are all imperfectly perfect. So find that imperfect person who makes you feel loved, safe and respected in his arms. Find the person who accepts your flaws and makes you a better person. Find a person who manages to put a smile to your face no matter what. Find a person whose presence makes you forget the world. Find a person you can never get enough of spending your time with. Find the person you can be with just a few minutes earlier but miss them deeply as soon as they are gone. Find the person who holds you up from drowning when the tide is in. Find the person who loves each and everything about you, from your crazy blabbering when you're sleepy to your irrational jealousy when you're insecure to your perfect look on a good day. Find the person whose arms you wish to run to, let it be joy, anger, sadness, loneliness or just because you need reassurance. Find the person who you'd love to hug at any time of the day. Find the person whose hugs mean the world to you. Find the person who respects your personality, views and opinions. Find the person who asks your permission and seeks for your comfort in anything. Find the person, whose heartbeat is the most reassuring sound ever . Find the person whose voice is just your favourite voice. Find a person who will patiently listen to all your rants. Find the person who never gives up on you no matter what the circumstance is. Find a person who is crazily protective over you. Find the person who is every male in your life rolled into one but doesn't replace them. Find the person who respects your family. Find the person who gives you time despite his busy schedule.

Once you find such a person, do the same for him too. Do more for him. Because if you find a guy like that, you're really lucky. Once you find the guy, try your best to hold onto him. Don't push him away. One day, he might just walk away done with all the hurt and then you'll be regretting it. You'll regret not appreciating him enough. Most important thing is to appreciate his presence in your life. Don't wait for his absence to show you the value of his presence. Give him his space, understand him when he needs to be understood, be there for him like he has always been there for you. As girls, we tend to take all we can from the guys and just because guys always show us they are much stronger than us- we forget that they have the same feelings as we do. Don't forget to show that you care and be there for him, even if he doesn't want you there. Just hold on through trying times because love isn't all perfect and fairytale-like. Your life ain't a book or a movie, it's reality. Nothing is perfect, nothing is ideal. Just keep having faith and pray for a happier ending. Live in the moment, cherish every second. And just keep loving.
