Harry walked up to the gate and handed the lady his ticket. He walked onto the flight and found his seat, right near a window. It was to his surprise and joy when Louis sat down next to him. The Doncaster boy had gotten more tan and had recently begun letting a light bit of stubble grow on his face, but he kept his hair pushed back in a fifties style quiff. He'd recently gotten more tattoos, making it so he had a full sleeve of tattoos, as well as several quotes on his chest. One that had struck Harry the most was the 'Free as a caged bird' quote he'd gotten right near his heart. That one had been all over the media. Of course all the speculation began pouring in that it related to 'Larry Stylinson' but Harry seriously doubted that. In Louis' mind, Larry had only been a fling, right? Unfortunately, the younger boy had felt a little more intimate than that. Those feelings had sadly screwed him over in the end.
He looked to his right where Louis was sitting and gave him a half-hearted smile. He tried to make it seem real but somehow the other boy knew the truth. He placed his left hand on Harry's thigh. It was obviously to comfort him but it gave Harry goose bumps. Harry found himself reaching out and placing his hand over Louis' and making it so that their fingers were intertwined. He looked up and made eye contact with Louis. Louis smiled and leaned back in his seat, his hand sliding a little higher on Harry's thigh.
'You know, Haz. I'm scared. I've tried to put on a brave front for you all but I'm not quite sure how much longer I can keep it up.' Harry heard Louis say.
'It'll be okay.' Harry tried to comfort his old bandmate but he wasn't sure he believed the words himself. The plane's engine turned on at that point and Harry felt the gnawing sensation in his stomach grow. There was no turning back from that point. The plane began taxiing to the runway then. Whether he liked it or not, Harry realized that he was about to embark on one of the biggest things he'd ever done.
---------
Harry woke up to Louis gently rubbing his leg and softly calling his name 'Harry. We're nearly landed.' He heard. He opened his eyes and glanced out the window. The rolling greens surrounding the city of Dublin were visible as well as the city sprawling out below them. Harry had always loved Ireland. One of his fondest memories was the time he had come to visit Niall's family, back when the band had first formed. Now they were coming back for a very different reason.
The gnawing feeling in the pit of Harry's stomach returned and he wondered if he was doing the right thing. But he pushed the feeling aside. He'd been the one begging them to agree to this trip. He had to act as though he was completely confident that it would succeed.
The plane landed and the boys walked to collect their belongings. They walked out and saw that Greg Horan was standing waiting for them to arrive. Greg wasn't looking for them by the time Harry saw them, instead he was tapping his foot and playing on his phone, typing something furiously. He then looked up and made eye contact with Harry. His entire posture seemed to improve, as though he worried that the boys may not follow through on the original plan.
When they got close enough, Greg went around and hugged all of them tightly. 'Alright lads.' He said 'We're just gonna go soon but first Nialler seems to want McDonalds. Do you mind making a pit stop?' The boys all shook their heads. Greg had said something about Niall. But where was he?
Greg started walking towards the parking lot then. He stopped after a while at a brand new looking Mazda 6. Harry soon caught up. That was when the passenger side door flew open.
'What the fuck are you doing here?' Someone screamed at Harry. He was taken aback but quickly realized it was Niall. Niall's eyes seemed to widen even more as he saw the rest of the boys slowly approaching the vehicle. Niall rubbed his bloodshot eyes as if he didn't believe the scene that was unfolding before him.
Niall definitely looked different than when the boys had last seen him, he was skinnier, which made him look taller, his hair had gone back to brown and was slightly in his eyes, which were bloodshot and dull. Harry was a little shocked, but at the same time somehow knew to expect this angry reaction.
What Harry had not expected, however, was Niall running into his arms, sobbing, saying 'I missed you guys. I really did.'
