Kai Demoney February 28, 2015, 9:35 am Court
"On the day of February 20th, 2015. Daniella was fately stabbed by Kai Demoney." Bryson explained walking back and forth. "However the real question is was it intentional murder?"
I grew a little nervous. I was now sitting in the witness stand. There was no one there to back up Danny. Which was actually quite sad. All they had was proof of the video that I stabbed her. Mally was one of my witnesses and as for Jay.... He stayed out of it completely. He washed his hands with it. As long as it only involved him paying for the lawyer.
"Ms. Demoney do you fully confess to the stabbing of Daniella Cole?" I slightly nodded.
Taking a quick glance over at Jay, Mally, and Kayden. "Yes. I do." I answered.
"And would you say your intentions were to kill Mrs. Cole?"
"Honestly no, but I don't regret it. I was protecting my child." I answered truthfully. Possibly a little to honest for the courts liking. Everyone looked at me like I was this crazed, death driven individual. Like they felt I belonged inside a psych ward.
"Would you say it was maternal instincts?" I shrugged a little.
"Suppose so."
"Exactly. It is quite common for expecting mothers. Even at a very early stage of pregnancy, such as yourself." He gave me a small smile. "Now tell me. Have you and Mrs. Cole had any previous altercations, minor issues that could have led to her attack?" I sighed.
"Her and I? No. Aside from the fact I lost baby B. Not at all...... However, her and Jermaine's argument was about me." I looked at him for approval to continue. I didn't want to say more than I needed.
"Continue."
I cleared my throat. "I was supposed to sign my rights off to the Cole's. But some events occurred that gave Jermaine second thoughts. He came to me and tore up our surrogate agreement. Then he asked if I would consider keeping my rights as the mother and move in. He did not say that he didn't want her to be apart of the child's life. He just simply stated I would be a better mother figure. So I agreed, but the only thing left to do was tell Danny. All I know is that their argument began to get very aggressive. Then before I knew it Malano and I were in the middle of it."
"Hmm.." He hummed. "So she did not take the news good at all?" I shook my head.
"No."
"Do you feel she had a right to feel as she did?"
"Objection!" The public defender shouted standing up.
"On what counts?" The judge asked.
"He is trying to make this woman feel as though what she did was right!"
The judge sighed.
"Over ruled. I'll allow it. Continue Ms. Demoney.
"I honestly do feel she had a right. However, she could have approached the situation differently. I do not feel what I did was right. But in my particular situation it was appropriate." I directed that last part at the public defender. He did not look impressed at all. "Again, I'm sorry it happened the way it did but I do not! And I do repeat do not.... Regret protecting my child."
"Fetus!" He retorted.
"Council!" The judge warned.
"It is a fetus. Not yet a human being. So what were you really protecting? It or yourself?"
"Either way it is self defense!" Bryson defended.
"It is not just a fetus!" I shouted.
"Order in the court!" The judge shouted, banging his gavel. Silencing us all.
"Council you're on thin ice here." He said point towards the man. He then took a deep sigh. "I'm gonna go ahead and give everyone a break. A 10 minute recess. I suggest you all use it to calm down." He hit his gavel and we were dismissed. Well everyone accept me. The officer walked over to me and placed me in hand cuffs. As she walked me down from the podium. I caught a glimpse of Kayden and Mally blowing me kisses.
"We love you Nane!" They cooed in unison. Putting a smile on my face.
Jay of course paid no attention to me. He just walked out the courtroom. Doing a good job of avoiding eye contact.

"Bail is set at 15,000 dollars until the final court date. March 12, 2015." 15,000? Mally doesn't just have that kind of money laying around. Let alone 1,500.
I know Jay wasn't going to to put that money up for me.
As I got up I caught a glimpse of Jay walking out once again. I wanted so badly to scream for him. I wanted a hug or even a slight acknowledgement.
I watched the doors close behind him and a wave of remorse washed over me.
I looked over at Mally who held a sympathetic look for me. He gave me a half smile. I smiled back and before you knew it I was out of the courtroom.

Short but just bare with me. I promise next chapter is much longer! I swear!!!
