IT'S HER TURN. She can do it. They did it at least once a year. The whole class was staring at her. She looked at her friends and saw Amy smiling at her encouragingly. Tori did the same, only in addition to the thumbs up. Then, at Archer, who looked so tense while studying her intently. As if he's ready to jumped to her any time.
She took a deep breath. She started explaining.
Surprisingly everyone clapped when she finished it, making her smile widely with glee. She took her seat back.
The whole period goes that way, everyone doesn't have time to give representation within just a period though. Only the unfortunate seven. Three used projectors and the rest used built models.
"Only ten more minutes, so we'll continue it in the next class. Remember, I call you out randomly so don't try to take this as an advantage. I can call you out anytime. You don't have your project on you on that spot then you lost 25 marks. Ellie, will you keep this to the teacher's store room?" The teacher said motioning to the figures.
"Yes, sir." She said politely. The store room wasn't as bad as it sounds. Projects submitted are kept there till exams are over.
She walked over the table and picked it up. They weren't really light and small. The shapes were irregular too. She could barely hold two with both arms. She stacked them anyway and didn't complain. She don't ask for help either as she always did these things alone.
She heard the scraping of a chair just as she exit the classroom.
"Let me." she jumped when she heard Archer's voice right behind her. She'd drop the objects if Archer hadn't grabbed three of them, leaving her with the lightest one. How could she have not heard him? He was so big so he surely had to have loud footsteps.
"You don't have to."
He scowled down at her as if she offended him.
"Did Mr. Gray sent you after me?"
His jaws clench and he glared at the ground.
"He didn't." Ellie gasped, "You could get into trouble."
"Why do they always have to let you do these things." he changed the subject, talking about the tasks the teachers gave her.
"I guess they trust me. Besides, I can handle it."
"But you're so small!" he accused her as if it was her own fault. That would have offended her, coming from him in the past but somehow Ellie felt, she didn't know what; he just spoke out his thoughts.
"I'm not. Besides, even if I am 'small' it's not like these simple tasks are going to break me."
Archer only scowled at her again.
They finally reached the door, Ellie open it with one hand.
"Will you hold the door" she says. Remembering it can't be opened from the inside. She was stuck in there once.
Archer did it with his jaws clenched after putting the objects on the
ground. He held it with one hand without inching closer to it. Ellie
found that weird, but his arms are long and it worked, so she didn't point it out.
She put the object on the space of the second shelf right in front of her as the first was full, just as the second was after putting the second one.
