War (Book 3 in Destined Series)

"This is war now." I say the next morning. My voice is louder then ever, my mind is stronger then ever, and everything falls into place more then ever before.

"No matter what he says or does to make you think other wise, that is not Shane!" I shout

"It's a monster wearing his skin." I state looking at them all.

"He was a friend to all of us. He put his life on the line for us, but in the end, it turned him into the creature we saw. It stripped him of his humanity! He killed Grace, without a blink." I say my voice wavering some when I speak that final line.

"The Shane we know would never do that. If he was still in there, he wouldn't have killed that little girl." I say my voice catching. But none the less, I keep talking.

"As far as we know, he is not with Alec anymore. He left Alec. But that doesn't mean he's alone. There are creatures in this world that not even we as hunters have faced." I say

"They are dangerous and more powerful then anything we've ever seen. We are in their territory. They have home field advantage. But that doesn't mean we'll lose. We are strong and we are powerful. We have a Destined on our side." I say and they all look at me wide eyed.

"That's right, I am a Destined." I say and Nick bites his lip as they look at us both.

"I am valuable and strong. Both Shane and Alec know it. And depending on what Shane remembers from his life, before he turned.... He may know that I am a Destined. I told him, I trusted him with it, before everything tumbled down on us. Alec has no clue though, but he knows I'm special. He saw me defeat his sister's most violent monster. He was hidden, but I know he was watching. He saw the power I possessed, but he doesn't know how." I say.

"I am a Destined. And I will be the face of this war." I say and they all look around. Nick stands up.

"Then I will stand by your side. After all, us Destined have to stick together." he says and now Drew and Mike look even more astonished.

"We do." I say as he moves beside me.

"Damn, I can't believe I didn't realize you two were Destined." Drew says looking between Nick and I.

"Some secrets must be kept, to keep you safe." I say and they nod in understanding.

"But now that you know, you know how valuable we are."

"Hell yeah." Mike mutters

"They want us, and they don't care if we're dead or alive, so don't think we have some hold over them. Because we don't. Alec can revive us, and Shane, who knows what he's capable of." I say and they nod.

"This amulet, Echo, and Nick and I's abilities combined make it harder to defeat us, but it also weakens us."

"Wait Echo?" Drew asks and I sigh then touch the tattoo on my shoulder. He pulls out of it and perches on my shoulder with a squawk.

"You named it Echo?" Drew asks and I smirk but Mike asks another question.

"What the hell? Did that thing just come from your shoulder?" Mike hisses and I nod.

"Yes. This is Echo."

"What is it?"

"A raven."

"A raven?"

"Yes, he guides us. With him came Jennie."

"Who's Jennie?" Mike asks and I bite my lip.

Wow, I left a bunch of things out.

"She is a close friend of mine. She was attacked at the academy and turned. Only difference though, instead of turning her into a demon like Shane and Alec, it turned her half demon half human. Half alive half dead. She's been helping me."

"Wow. You left a bunch of stuff out." Drew says and I sigh.

"Granted, I should have told y'all about Jennie and Echo. But being a Destined, y'all can understand me not sharing that." I say and they nod.

"Fair enough." Mike says and I nod.

"Now that all of that is out in the open, we need to start planning. We're low on weapons, but I think this amulet and Echo can help with that. Once I figure out how this amulet works, I will be awoken to a world outside of this one. This amulet is beautiful, but dangerous. There's always a game to play with things like this." I say and they all nod.

"But I will crack it. I'll figure out how it works. What I need from you two... weapons. Go and collect as many weapons as you can. Y'all are the quickest. You can get in and out unnoticed easier then Luke, Nick or I." I say to the two wolves and they nod.

"When you two return, that's when the planning begins." I say and they nod. They stand up then in a flash are gone, still in human form.

I look over at Luke and Nick, then hold up the amulet.

"I need you two, to help me crack this damn thing." I say and Echo squawks.

"Because who knows what it's truly made for."
