War (Book 3 in Destined Series)

Chaos breaks loose as the demons run at us. We stand strong though and I slowly shut my eyes.

"Gotta plan Christina?" Luke asks as I hear their footsteps grow closer. I hold my hands out to the side and feel the power swarm within me.

When they're only so many inches in front of us, I snap open my eyes and the power shoots from my body with a shout. Thirty of them are thrown back, and at least twenty of them, are instantly killed as they fall through the cracked ground, to the burning abyss below.

I look up as the ones left, plus others, creep forward again. I yank my staff from the ground, and with a battle cry we run forward into the psychotic war. Bane runs at me first, sorrow in his eyes. But I don't care. I slam my staff into the ground then continue towards him, right at him, not stopping. I yank out my knife and chuck it at him. He blocks it though and I lunge shoving him to the ground. We roll for a little bit then finally come to a stop. Our eyes lock and his thoughts invade my mind.

"Kill me. I don't want to kill you." he says and I meet his eyes.

"I didn't choose to be apart of this war kill me." he says

"If you wanna die so badly why didn't you let the knife hit you." I hiss yanking him up.

"Because I wanted to say I was sorry." he says

"For what? Betraying me, betraying us? I thought you were killed!"

"As the Queen's servant yes, but Alec brought me into his war." he says as I yank out a knife.

"No jokes?"

"No, just kill me. Because if you don't kill me, I'll have to kill you." he says and I meet his eyes.

The chaos around grows silent and I slowly nod. I stab the knife into his stomach and twist. His eyes never leave mine though, as life slowly leaves him.

"Thank you." he whispers before dropping to the ground. He vanishes into dust and I spin around, the chaos reawakened.

The war continues on and I run over to help the others.

One by one we pick Alec's men off, only losing one of ours so far. I shove through the mess killing anything in my way as I rush towards Alec. I hear a shout and instantly duck rolling to the right as Brett slams into the ground before me.

"It's been a while since I battled you." he says then lunges. I roll out of the way chucking a knife at a demon attacking Drew. I twist and block another blow from Brett. I jump up ducking under his arm and attacking from behind. I shove him to the ground but don't get far as he twists and instead pins me to the ground. I jerk my head to the right as he slams a knife down at me then kick up. He flies off and I chuck a knife at a demon sneaking up behind Nick. He falls dead but I curse as hands grab me and Brett's red eyes blaze into mine. I ram my head forward and hear a satisfying snap as his nose breaks. He stumbles back and looks up fuming, as blood gushes from the crack.

"Ouch, looks like that hurts." I hiss and he growls lunging. I block another blood then land a side kick. I kick up with my other foot and wrap my legs around his neck and twist slamming him to the ground. His neck snaps and I kick him away standing up. He stands up, his front to me, but his head the opposite way. Bile rises in my throat as he grabs his head and snaps it back to the front. He smiles at me blood falling from his mouth.

"I'm not easy to kill." he spits then lunges. I try to dodge but he quickly catches on and uses it against me. He slams a foot into my chest and I fly back towards a tree. I slam into it covering my head as my back hits. I fall to the ground below and breathe heavy standing up. I yank out my two guns aim and shoot, one bullet leaving each gun, in each hand. I continue to shoot him and he continues to walk forward. Blood drips into my eyes and I bite my lip continuing to shoot almost blindly now. I see him and inch in front of me, quickly wipe the blood then dodge as the sword swings at me. I duck then kick up landing a side kick to his head. His neck snaps again and I shove him back. He grabs me roughly and yanks me against him. I throw all my weight back and with a cry I slam into the ground, him below me. I hear a boom as his head collides with a rock then I stand up and look down at him. A presence is known behind me and I jump out of the way as the blade whistles by my head. I roll away roughly then spin and look up.
