I finished up the rest of my weekend by relaxing and wearing Erik's hoodie nonstop. If my parents noticed, they didn't say anything, which I don't mind. I don't want them knowing about this, especially when it might not mean anything.
I'm on my way to school right now and I'm a bundle of nerves; when and how do I give Erik his jacket back? I really wanted to wear it to school but I thought better of it. Hopefully Isabel will have some answers for all my questions. I know I'm probably blowing this out of proportion, but this is Erik we are talking about and I'm a social outcast these days.
Once I arrive at school and park my truck, I head over to the gym to meet Isabel; I plop down next to her on the ground.
"Good morning."
"Good morning, aren't you dressed up all nice today? Trying to impress Erik are we now?" She wiggles her eyebrows at me in a ridiculous way.
Darn, she noticed; I can't help but blush a little bit in embarrassment.
"Yes, maybe I am. What do you think?" I stand up and do a little spin for her.
Laughing at my ridiculousness, Isabel says, "You look great, I'm sure Erik will think so too." She winks at me and laughs some more.
I laugh too. Before I can say anything else, I hear them gym doors bust open. Erik walks out with the rest of the team behind him, like a scene in some stereotypical high school movie. He looks absolutely gorgeous with his damp hair, gray Guy Harvey tee, dark Levi's, and boots. Oh, and of course his signature hat.
He's talking to a few of his teammates as he walks. Isabel nudges me and whispers, "Here's your chance. Get his attention." I nod my head and grab his jacket. Right as he walks by, I call out his name.
"Erik."
Some of the players give me a quick glance before turning away, realizing who I am. I even get a few dirty looks. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Before I can get up and run away though, Erik turns back and looks at me. Instantly, his face lights up with his heart warming smile realizing I was the one who called his name.
He gives the guys he was talking to a quick goodbye before turning around and coming to sit by me. In return he gets confused and disapproving looks but they keep their mouths shut and continue walking. I look over at Isabel a little worried and she gives me a reassuring smile.
"Hey Trystan, hey Isabel", he says smiling at me.
"Hey Erik", Isabel says.
I give him a nervous smile back before mumbling, "I'm sorry if I embarrassed you in front of your friends. I shouldn't have said anything."
"Why would I be embarrassed?"
"I don't know. I mean everyone here kinda hates me, except for Isabel and I'm a social outcast here and I just spoke to you in front of all your teammates and its my fault what happened this summer and-", he cuts me off before I can continue my nervous rant.
"Hey, it's ok. Calm down. And I don't hate you either."
I smile at his kind words and my heart flutters a little at the thought that he doesn't hate me.
He continues, "You can talk to me anytime Trystan, don't worry about my friends or anyone else. And about the party, that wasn't your fault."
I shook my head, "It was my fault, Erik. So many people got in trouble, including you."
He looks at me for a second before responding, his eyes are soft with no trace of any anger. "It wasn't your fault. I'm sorry about what happened. If you want, we can talk about it over some ice cream on Wednesday."
"D-do you really mean all that?" How does this boy not hate me? And did he really just technically ask me out on a date!?
He smiles, "Yes, I really mean all that. So do you wanna get ice cream on Wednesday? We can leave straight from school and I can drive us."
I can't help the huge smile that spreads across my face as I say, "Thank you and yes I would love to go get ice cream Wednesday."
"Alright, I'll meet you by your locker after 7th period."
Before I can ask if he knows where my locker is the bell rings and he stands up to leave. Before he leaves he helps me up off the ground and grabs my bag for me.
"I'll see you around Trystan." With that he leaves.
Crap I forgot to give him his jacket.
