I'm sitting on my floor in a towel staring at all my casual dresses trying to decide which one is perfect for my date with Erik. I've been staring at them since I got out of my shower ten minutes ago. It'd be so much easier if Erik had just told me where we were going, but no, it had to be a big cute surprise. Maybe Isabel can help. I get up off my floor and grab my phone from my nightstand and FaceTime her.
She picks up and greets me, "Hey Trys, what's with FaceTime? Are you okay?"
"I don't know what to wear," I whine.
She chuckles, "Alright what are the options?"
Flipping the camera around, I show her each dress. There's a simple white dress, navy dress with some ruffles, a dress with a cream top and floral bottom, and a coral strapless dress. All of them have a brown belt.
"Definitely the coral one."
"That's the one I was leaning towards."
"It'll go great with your skin tone," she compliments.
"Thanks, Is! I love you, you're the best!"
"I know and I love you too! Now go get ready!"
"Okay, okay! See you tomorrow!"
I give her one last wave before hanging up. What would I do without my best friend? Standing up, I grab the dress off the floor and head into my bathroom to get ready. After I plug in my hair dryer I realize that I can't get ready without some music. Still wrapped in my towel, I head over to my ihome and plug my phone in, hitting shuffle on my favorite playlist. Somewhere On A Beach by Dierks Bently comes on and I can't help but sway my hips to the beat and sing along. I make sure to turn the volume up extra loud so that I'll be able to hear it over my hair dryer.
I dance my way back into my bathroom and start blow drying my hair. Six songs go by before I'm finally done. I slip on a strapless bra and some clean underwear before pulling on the dress. Isabel was right, it really does compliment my tanned skin. Heartbeat by Carrie Underwood comes on as I get my curling iron ready.
Once the curling iron is hot enough I set to work curling my hair. I curl it into soft waves that fall down my back. When I'm done I touch it up with a light hairspray to help it keep its hold. Now it's time for accessories. I don't have any necklaces that match but I do have gold dangling teardrop earrings that I put in. To finish off the look I pull on my brown Ariat cowboy boots. Satisfied with how I look in the mirror, I grab my phone and am about to walk out of my room when the doorbell rings.
I didn't even know we had a doorbell to be honest.
I hear the door open and my dad greeting whoever it is. It's probably Erik since it's six o'clock. I exit my room and head to the front door to find Erik and my dad talking. Erik is holding a bouquet of flowers and he looks absolutely stunning, making me stop dead in my tracks and catch my breath.
He's dressed in dark wash jeans, a blue and green plaid flannel, and dressy Justin square toe boots. The sleeves of his shirt are rolled up to his elbows revealing his muscular forearms. His eyes are brought out by the green in his shirt, making them even more dazzling. His hair is slightly curly and still a little damp from his shower, giving it a messy but sexy look.
I hear my dad cough, causing me to snap out of my trance. Instantly, my cheeks heat up at the realization of being caught by my dad. I will my legs to start working again and walk over to the two of them.
Erik gives me his heart stopping smile and holds the flowers out to me. "These are for you."
Taking them I say, "Thank you." I flash him a small smile, aware of my dad watching. "They're beautiful. Let me go put them in some water."
