Chapter 9: The Song is the Key
Sitting in Maddie’s car Malcolm kicking my seat being a mad man. He’s mad because I beat him at air hockey at the arcade in the science center and now he has to sit in the back seat.
“Malcolm!!” I yelled and hit his leg. He hit my arm.
“No hitting!” Maddie said one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding big glob of cotton candy. The car smelled of cotton candy, Carmel corn and licorice. I had the licorice and Malcolm had the Carmel corn.
We were very hyper. We had just spent the day at the science center playing laser tag and other fun games in the arcade. Malcolm and I tied in laser tag and Maddie got well one on Malcolm and none on me.
I had my first elephant ear and apparently they are really good. If you haven’t had one you should have one. There dough thats fried and sugar and brown sugar sprinkled on top. All three of use shared one because they are massive.
We were dancing to the music that is blasting out of the radio. All of a sudden “Ridin’ Solo” came on and I started singing. And Maddie and Malcolm stared at me. I bit my lip, “Sorry I can’t sing.” Maddie slapped the back of my head.
“Lexie your really good at singing,” I laughed and shook my head, “You gotta be kidding.” Malcolm bent forward from his seat in the back.
“Lexie you are! Your better than a lot of the people in the music class at school.” I scratched my head.
“Maybe you should sign up for music.” I leaned back. Maddie was staring at me.
“You really think I am.” Maddie took a piece of Malcolm’s corn and threw it at me, “Yes you are and if you don’t sign up I will sign you up my self.” I chuckled and ate the kettle the landed on my shoulder.
Next Day:
My feet are stuck I can’t move another inch towards the wooden door in front of me. The read Music Room on it and it was scary to look at.
“Lexieyou can’t stand here for ever.” Maddie and I have a free period and I wish we did our normal of sitting on the bleachers and laughing at the bands mistakes as they marched back and forth. Thank god she not making me join band.
“I can’t Maddie, I’m stuck.” She put both her hands on my shoulder and stood behind and pushed. I slid forward toward the demon hole. I was an inch away from it but I wasn’t budging anymore. Before I could do anything the door swung open and Maddie pushed me face first into Aaron.
I pushed back my hands on his chest. I quickly let go and slammed on Maddie’s foot.
“Woah.” He yelled, I brushed down my shirt. “Sorry about that my friend was being stupid.” Maddie was holing her foot and stuck her tung out at me. I crinkled my nose at her and shook my head.
“Oh um...its fine.” I nodded and walked around him. “Um Lexie.” I turned and looked at him Maddie was already gone. Probably to get ice.
