Jasper's Story

*Amila's pov*

After the training,I sat on a log but got up when I saw Jasper walk by.

Me: "Jasper?"

He looks at me.

Me: "Are you sure there's nothing I can do to help?"

Jasper: "Well, your presence alone, your scent, will distract the newborns.Their hunting instinct will take over and drive them crazy.But, I would rather have your scent around then your presence.Because we don't want anything to happen to my niece or nephew in there."

I laughed.

Me: "No, we defiantly don't want that.But I am glad that my scent can help.But how do you know so much about this?"

Jasper: "I didn't have the same upbringing as my adopted siblings."

He rolled up his sleeves, I saw alot of scars on them.

Me: "Those bites are like mine."

Jasper: "Battle scars.All the training the Confederate Army gave me..was useless against the newborns.Still, I never lost a fight."

We walked around,and I could tell my baby wanted to know more about their Uncle Jasper.

Me: "This happened during the Civil War?"

Jasper: "I was the youngest major in the Texas cavalry, all without having seen any real battle."

Me: "Until?"

Jasper: "Till I met a certain immortal...Maria.I was riding back to Galveston after evacuating a column of woman and children when I saw them.I immediately offered them my aid."

He told me about her biting him, and I thought about it.

Me: "Maria was creating an army?"

Jasper: "They were very common in the South.There were constant brutal battles for territory.Maria won them all.She was smart, careful, and she had me.I was her second in command.My ability to control emotions served her well.I trained her newborns,an endless occupation since she never let them live beyond their first year.It was my job to dispose of them.I could feel everything they felt.I thought what Maria and I had was love.But I was her puppet.She pulled the strings.I didn't know there was another way till I found Alice.Now, she'd seen me coming,of course."

I smiled when I saw Alice.

Alice: "You kept me waiting long enough."

I smiled while Jasper laughed.

Jasper: "My apologies,ma'am.I don't know what I'd have become without her."

Alice: "Shhh..You never have to be that again."

That night I woke up from a nightmare, I looked at Edward.

Edward: "What is it?"

Me: "The intruder,the newborn army,they're all her puppets."

He looks at me confused.

Me: "Victoria."

Edward: "Alice would have seen is she wanted to make an army."

Me: "Unless she's hiding behind them and she's letting someone else decide."

Edward looked like he was thinking.

Edward: "We will talk more about it in the morning,meanwhile you need sleep."

I giggled then cuddled up to him again,while my eye's slowly close.
