Becky's POV:
Today is Allie's 7th birthday and CJ is throwing her a party inviting few of her friends from school and ordering the piñata. I call to check up on her cake that I have to pick up later this evening.
"Umm why aren't my friends here yet and why is Renée taking down my balloons?" Allie comes out back pouting with her arms crossed.
"She's not taking them down honey she's blowing them up bigger for you" I lied.
"Look Sarah's over there with daddy go say hello" I scoot her to greet her friend as I head inside to see what Renée is up to.
"Why are you taking those down?"
"The colors are ugly I was think a white and gold and those types that don't pop and make a lot of noise would suit the party"
"Are you crazy? First red and white are Allie's favorite colors and second I spend all night blowing those up so you need to put those back and stop trying to control everything" I say annoyed.
"You need to go back to wherever you crawled out from and stop ruining my life!" She says letting go of the balloons and brushing past me to go rant to CJ.
"Renée those are Allie's balloons" I hear him say
"Well I think the party would be a success if you just took th-"
"Stop! This isn't one of your formal parties where you clank glasses and make small talk Renée, this is my daughter's birthday party so I'd really appreciate it if you let her enjoy it" he stormed past her inside to check on the brownies in the oven.
I watch as Renée heads inside to her room angry. She's so immature if you ask me and I honestly don't see the problem.
"Mommy look" Allie runs up to me holding something in her hand.
"What's that?" I say unable to see between her clasp hands.
"A ladybug but you have to peep so he doesn't fly away"
"Okay" I stoop down and hold her hands as she slightly opens then to reveals a red ladybug with black dots.
"Its beautiful baby now go put it on the branch over there and come inside to wash your hands" I say smiling and guiding her to the bush. She let's it go and we go inside and wash her hands.
"Mommy is aunty Renée sick?" She asks as we pass Renée's room and see her lying down backing us.
"No baby she's just lying down lets not bother her" I say leading Allie to the bathroom.
Allie runs back outside to join her friends and I answer my phone that buzzes in my pocket.
"Hello"
"Oh great thanks I'll come get I now" I hang up and grab my keys to pick up Allie's cake.
"CJ I'm going to get Allie's cake so hold down the fort for me" he laughs and I get in my car and drive off.
CJ's POV:
Becky leaves and I turn on the music and get the food on the table and the cooler on the lawn to keep the drinks in.
"Daddy is Taylor still coming?" Allie runs up to me and asks
"Yupp her mommy says she's getting dressed" I say and she smiles and runs back to tell the others. I smile as I watch them play and jump around.
"Okay everyone come sit" I say getting the plates on the table. They all sit and chatter as I lay down the macaroni pie, rice and baked chicken on their plates. They eat and I tie a garbage bag onto the patio door and wash my hands to pour the juice. Its pineapple that I mixed about an hour or two ago so its quite chilly.
As I'm cleaning up Becky returns with the cake so I distract Allie and tell her go play by the jumping tent and I'll get her snacks ready. Becky hurries in and pops it into the fridge.
"How's everything going?" She asks smiling.
"Great they're having a grand time."
"Awesome I'll be back" I nod and watch Allie playing.
Becky's POV:
I fix a plate and head upstairs.
"Hey" I say knocking before I entered
"Hi" Renée turns and sits up.
"I brought a plate for you since you didn't eat all day" I say handing her the food.
"Thanks" she said taking it and eating.
"I'm sorry that we haven't been the best of friends but I didn't mean to ruin your life" I said sincerely and that's not like me so she better know I mean it.
"I didn't mean that...I just don't feel like I belong... You two got a great bond and I'm really trying to fit in but I don't belong here" she says sulking.
"That's not true you're good at- Yuh know- what you're good at" I say trying to cheer her up. She laughs.
"Its okay Becky....it's just that CJ spends so much time with Allie and you...I don't think he loves me anymore"
"Don't say that he definitely loves you"
"No, he doesn't...I mean look at us..we practically rushed into this" I sighed.
"Thanks for the meal I'll try to finish it" she says and I laugh at the fact that she ate 2 peas and is full.
I go back outside and see the children eating brownies. A car pulls up and a little girl gets out.
"Daddy look it's Taylor" he turns and sees Taylor then a little boy.
"Mommy this is Taylor, my best friend" Taylor waves and I smile and wave back.
"Hi Taylor I'm glad you came"
"And this is her brother Danny, they're twins" Allie says.
"Hi" they run off and play and Danny stands up feeling left out.
"Do you eat brownies?" I ask and he nods. I guide him to the table and he takes two. I smile and he smiles back.
It's now 5 and it's time to hit the piñata.
"One two three" we all say spinning Allie around three times before letting her go to swing. She swings 5 times before giving someone else a try. I laugh at all the attempts and CJ helps shift the children around to avoid getting hurt.
"Yay!" Danny swings and bursts the piñata causing a lot of sweets to fall out. Everyone grabs for them and I help CJ prevent injuries. After they clean the floor I turn to get them inside and see Renée standing at the door smiling. She sees me and goes back inside and my smile fades.
"Okay don't eat those until you get home guys you've had enough sugar for one day" CJ says guiding them inside to cut the cake and end the party.
We stand around Allie as she smiles ready to cut her cake.
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Allianna happy birthday to you" everyone sings and Allie blows out her candles. CJ and I help Allie cut the cake and she sticks the fork in it and feeds me. CJ gets a picture. She then feeds CJ and I laugh and take a picture. I cut the rest of the cake to share among her friends as they 1 by 1 leave to go home.
"Bye Taylor, bye Danny" Allie waves and runs inside to open her gifts.
I go to the bathroom and pass CJ's room and hear them talking. Why am I always eavesdropping?
"CJ I'm sorry okay it's just what's best" Renée says but I don't stick around to hear anymore. I head to the bathroom to wash my hands and prepare Allie's shower.
"Nuh uh Missy, bathe first then you can open those"
"But mom!"
"No buts come" she drags her feet over to me and I guide her to her room.
CJ's POV:
I head to the living room 15 minutes after having a serious talk with Renée.
"Wow another doll?" I ask as Allie rips apart the wrapping.
"I know right! I'm getting too old for dolls" I laugh and sit with her and Becky who's taking lots of pictures.
"Look this one is from Taylor and Danny" I say handing her the present by my leg.
"Look mommy!" She says showing Becky.
"Taylor gave me a bear"
"I see honey next present" Becky says smiling.
Allie opens her mother's gift.
"Look daddy it's a Minnie Mouse pillow and blanket" she says showing me.
"Aww they're cute pumpkin"
She opens my gift.
"New shoes!" She smiles.
"Thanks mommy, thanks daddy"
"Your welcome honey" Becky says hugging her. She hugs me.
"Your welcome pumpkin"
Renée was right. This is my family.
