Corinth must have masked her scent somehow because I had no sense of her being there. She glided into the room as lovely as the day I left her. Long blond waves framed her overly sweet features. Her eyes found mines instantly and lit up.

“Why is she here?” Giliana asked, angry.

“When Sophia told me she knew the Morganite clan, I invited her to join me here.” Corinth explained.

     “Hello Gilly.” Sophia said politely.

“Don’t call me that.” Gilly rebuked her for using the shortened version of her name, reserved only for the beings she likes.

“Why are you so angry? I have missed you all so very much.”

“Sophia, Rogue has made it clear that he never wants to see you again.” Anya clarified.

“I thought that by now he would have changed his mind.”

“You thought wrong.” I quietly said.

“I apologize if I have upset you all; my intentions were good I assure you.” Corinth looked genuinely confused.

“I do not doubt you, but I gather Sophia has not told you anything of our history and how she came to be?” I asked him.

“No, she only said that she knew you all very well.”

“I did not lie.” Sophia said hastily.

“No, you did not.” I agreed.

“Lex maybe you can explain what is happening here.” Corinth asked.

“If I may take my leave?” The elders nodded their approval and I turned to leave the room when the sound of rapid movements caught my attention causing me to stop in my track.

“I have changed; please give me a chance to show you.” Sophia calmly pleaded before me.

“Why? I will never take you back.”

“Fine, at least let me make amends. After all, I have found my life’s partner. He is nothing like you?”

She found her mate. If that was true, I would be happy for her.

“I remember everything. The guilt and shame follows me everywhere I go. I need to make amends if I am ever to move on.”

     She appeared sincere enough.

“May I please stay, at least until Corinth leaves? It may not be enough time to gain forgiveness but at least you can see me as I am now.”

“Do as you like.” I left her there. The initial shock had worn off and now I had a call to make.

“What was the surprise?” Stella asked impatient.

     “Sophia Langton”

     Stella was quiet,

     “Are you there?”

“Yes, I’m here. I thought you got rid of her?”

“Apart from killing her, I guess not. Where is Angelina?”

“Uh… right here. I probably should have left the room but I was so anxious to know. You know how much I love surprises.”

How could Stella forget to leave the room?

“No, I’ll leave.” I heard Angelina say in the background. She sounded angry.

     “Tell her to stay.”
