Twelve

It's been a few days since Lee had showed his face it had turned out that he had been around for a while, Linda has been back around due to Lee turning up out the blue, it turns out Lee left Afghanistan and the army as his best friend in the army was killed and it caused him to want to leave though Mick after some talking with Lee changes His mind and Lee has made arrangements to go back.

Today is the day of my scan and I'm nervous as hell but can't wait to be able to tell everyone the news the secret is eating me alive.
I'm in the bedroom after getting ready looking at myself in the mirror and my expanding waist line feeling a little depressed at my changing figure
"You ready mummy?" Mick said walking in the bedroom making me jump
"Yes" I said not taking my eyes of my slightly swollen tummy "keep the volume down babes" I sighed turning to the side looking at my tiny bump from the side
"No ones around, and what you looking at Elle?" Mick said walking up wrapping his arms around my waist
Cupping my tummy
"Mick will you love me when I'm fat?" I blurt out
Mick chuckles "what the hell Elle, where that come from?"
"My tummy, its fat and I know that when your pregnant that everything expands tummy legs bum" I sigh turning around looking at him
"Ellie listen baby, I'd love you even if you was the size of a elephant. You body is cooking our baby and that's magical."
"I guess so I'm sorry I'm being hormonal" I chuckle looking down at Mick rubbing my bump
"Now come on let's go see the bean" Mick said head gesturing the door

We arrive at the hospital and we wait in the waiting room I look around nervously and start picking at my fingers
"Babe" Mick quietly says grabbing my hand so I couldn't pick my finger nails he noticed I was nervous and looks at me to ask what's wrong
"What if there is something wrong or there is twins or triplets or worse no baby" I rant on nervously in a quite whisper
"It's okay it's all okay"
Just then a woman sticks her head out the door and calls my name
"Ellie Bowman"
I look over to her and I freeze Mick squeezes my hand and stands up I look up at him and he smiles at me "come on" he whispers
I look around the waiting room at everyone staring at me I then notice a couple sitting smiling at the scan pictures they had of there baby that was all I needed to see they looked happy and that gave me the motivation I needed, I get up and Mick leads me into the room

We enter the room and is greeted by the sonographer 
"Hi Ellie is it?"
"Hi yes" I said with  nervous smile looking around the room seeing the bed and a desk and the scan machine
"Okay Ellie if you just want to remove your jacket and lay down on the bed and Dad if you want to take a seat next to the bed, dad your name is?"
"Mick" I said for him as I took my jacket of and handed it to Mick
I laid down on the bed and watched as the sonographer sorted out stuff she comes over with a massive piece of blue tissue paper and tucks it in my jeans
"Just to stop the gel getting on your clothes" she said with a smile "can you lift your top up please"
I lift the top up and the sonographer shakes a bottle over my tummy
"This might be a little cold just to warn you" she said as she squirts the clear slightly cold gel on me "okay is this your first baby" she said as she sits down in the chair next to the bed and picks up the scanner
"Yes this is mine , but will be Micks fourth"
I stare up at the ceiling and Mick holds on to my hand as the sonographer runs the scanner over my abdomen, she was doing something as the was pushing buttons on a keyboard
"Okay, are you ready?" She asks a while later breaking the deadly silence that was in the room
"What for?"  I ask
"To see the baby, that's if you want to"
I look at her shocked and nod my head
She turns the screen and on the screen I could make out the baby instantly
"Is it all okay?" I ask sounding a little worried
"It's better than okay it's perfect" she said with a smile " there's its heartbeat there" she said pointing at its heart seeing it beating strong made me sigh out in relieve
"Thank god" I smile well more like grin
I look over at Mick and I see him smiling.

We arrive outside the vic and I we sit there in silence for a minute, and Mick gets out the pictures off the baby and looks at them I look at him seeing him smile
"You okay there baby" I ask him
"Im more than okay" he said looking over to me then back to the scan picture " I just can't believe it Ellie"
"I know me either seems so real now"
"Yeah, think in a few months there will be a little Carter in our arms"
He leans in and kisses me on the lips and pulls away "come on Elle, we going to celebrate, get all the carters together break the news" he suggested with a huge grin.
