Thirteen

We walk into the queen vic and is greeted by Nancy and Tina behind the bar
"Nancy" Mick calls out pointing to the back she nods her head as she hands the change to the punter
Me and Mick walk through the pub and I greet some of the afternoon punters
I wave over to Kat who was sitting and having a drink with Alfie

Mick and I meet Nancy out the back
"Nancy I want you to get all the carters together for tonight"
"Okay" she nods "can I ask why"
"No just get everyone together get aunt babe here soon want some food cooked up for tonight nothing fancy"
"She's already here dad there's karaoke tonight she doing the food"
"Okay that's good get her to do extra" Mick said heading up stairs
Nancy looks at me with eyes that was asking what was happening. I shook my head and patted her on the shoulder as I walked past her

I get ready for the evening shift and for Mick and mines little celebration I had butterfly's I was so nervous about telling everyone I literally felt like I was going to pass out from the nerves.
I look at myself In the mirror I was wearing black skinny jeans black heals and a black cross strap cami top.
I check my make up and touch up my lip gloss
"Let's go" I sigh to myself I run my hand through my long brown hair and I breath out in a sigh
"Elle you ready" Mick calls out as he opens the bedroom door walking in the room
"Yeah I'm coming now, so" I said looking at him from across the room
"So what?"
"So how we doing this, we telling them up here cause the bar is to public for my liking, you know just in case the news don't go well"
"Well there all gathered in the living room well started to so let's tell them before they disappear"
I nod my head nervously with a weak smile and Mick holds out his hand and I take it and we leave the bedroom and enter the living room I look around and see Linda standing there and I let go of Mick's hand and walk into the kitchen
I stand there for a minute not in the best mood now and Mick walks in and closes the door
"Come on they need to know"
"Yeah and I was going to tell them but seeing your ex wife sitting in my living room made me change my mind, that woman is like a bad smell she just won't do one"
"Look I know I didn't want her here tonight but to Nancy and the kids she one of us so they in invited her."
"Mick that woman hates me, the news of the baby will go down like a lead ballon with her, I wanted you to break the news about it over the phone"
"Look let's just go in tell them all now then it's done"
I nod my head and I walk into the living room with Mick behind me

"Okay are we all here?" Mick said looking around the room seeing that they all was
"Yeah dad everyone's here, so what's going on I got them all here so spill dad" Nancy said impatiently
Mick looks to me and I smile at him and he pulls me in kissing my head
"Okay right Elle and I have some news and we wanted to tell you all"
"Come on mick" Tina yells with excitement
"Ellie and I we are having a baby"
"What!" Linda yells out shocked
"I knew it" Tina screams jumping up and down
"What really?" Nancy says with a smile
"Yeah really" I said with a smile "is that okay?" I said asking her sounding nervous
"You seriously asking me that, I can't wait"
"That's excellent news" Jonny said walking over bringing me in to a hug
"Who wants to see the pictures Mick said pulling them out his pocket
"Oh my god" Nancy said cooing over the pictures with Tina and Jonny and Lee
"Is this where you was today?" Lee asks
"Yeah Elle is twelve weeks and two days pregnant with the next Carter you should of seen it it was magical"
"Okay so how about it guys lets go down stairs and open some bubbley" Shirley says
"Woo yeah" Tina said clapping her heads 
"Sounds like a plan shirl" Mick said leading us all out the room

We head down stairs and the Carter family are celebrating with champagne and me with good old orange juice the pub was busy due to karaoke and I was serving punters in between watching the karaoke

Sharon was in the pub with Phil and I watch them both they seemed overly happy and in love tonight compared to other nights Sharon notices me watching and walks over
"What can I get you Hun?" I ask her
"A glass of champagne for me and a orange juice for Phil"
"Ooo champagne you celebrating?" I ask her with a giggle as I pour the orange in the glass
"Maybe" she said flashing her engagement ring
"What no" I said grabbing her hand looking at the ring
"Yes asked last night"
"I'm so pleased for you both" I smiled at her handing her drinks to her she hands me the money
"No there on me"
"You sure"
"Yes definitely" I smiled getting brought from it seeing mick with the karaoke mic in his hand
"His not going to sing his he" Sharon laughs
"Not sure" I laughed

"Okay folks I know what your thinking and no I'm not going to even though I've got a cracking good voice, I'm up here for a completely different reason" I look at him knowing where this was going "Ellie" he calls to me wanting me to join him I walk out from behind the bar and I join him
"Okay Elle and I want you all to know as you are going to find out sooner or later that we are expecting a baby"
Seconds later there is claps and people yelling congratulations and I'm jumped on by people pulling me in for a hug
"Ellie" Sharon pulls me in for a hug "congratulations why didn't you say a minute ago"
"Well I was planning on keeping it secret a little longer but I guess all the champagne has gone to Mick's head" I laugh

I walk outside and I lean up against the pub and I get my breath and enjoy the cool breeze on my face
The pub doors open and out comes a crowd of punters followed by Linda
She notices me as she going through her bag for the car keys
"So I guess congrats are in order" she said through gritted teeth
"Yeah looks that way"
"I always wanted another baby. Mick he never did, his changed since his been with you"
"Well mick wants this baby and we couldn't be happier"
"Just keep telling yourself that Ellie because one day he will come back to me"
"You think so do you" I said as I pick up a beer glass that was next to the plant pot
"Yes I do he will be back because we are meant to be together" and with that she walks away leaving me standing there beer glass in hand,
