chapter seventeen:

Calebs pov:

I paced the room, I shook, I cried. I called mom and told her about it. What if she wouldn't make it? then what would I do? I sat on her hospital bed. Tears fell from my eyes and landed on the bed.

* three hours later*

a doctor opened the door and I looked up and I rushed to him.

" is Emily okay? Did she make it?" I asked as I shook.
" surprisingly yes she did that's the good news."
I felt so relived I was so happy.

" but we have bad news as well."
" wait what's that?" I asked trembling again.
" Emily has an uncureable disease that causes stomach ulcers. we are putting her on special medication that will protect her stomach but that doesn't for sure mean they won't come back."
" okay Doctor thank you so much."
" Emily is in recovery right now would you like to see her?"
" yes please."

I was so happy she was alive. We walked in the recovery room and she was laying there sleeping. I held her hand and kissed it.

* a few hours later*

She woke up and was woozy and they took her to her room after recovery. She layed in her bed with a few machines hooked up to her. I sat next to her waiting for her to wake up and fully open her eyes.

After a while her eyes opened all the way and she looked at me.

" Caleb I'm hurting." she said as I held her hand.
"it will all be over soon I promise " I said as I kissed her forehead
" promise?"
" yes baby I'm so proud of you I love you so much." I said as I kissed her soft lips.

We sat and had little talks and we watched tv.
Then a doctor walked in.

" how are we feeling?"
" good just some pain." She said and smiled
" well we are gonna keep you for a while just for observation until we are permitted to send you home."
" okay thank you." Emily said as he left.

She yawed and closed her eyes I layed next to her in her hospital bed. She eventually fell asleep and I went to the lunchroom and got her a bowl of soup.

Emily's pov:

I woke up and Caleb had soup on my mini table. I felt pain where the surgery was done but I tried not to show it to much. I was just thankful to be alive.

The hospital bed was so uncomfortable and I wanted to go home but I couldn't for a while.

" I brought you soup would you like me to feed you some?" Caleb asked
" yes please Caleb I'm starving from not eating."

The doctor permitted me to eat after a few hours because I had thrown up so much I had nothing in my system. I tapped a button a few times and my bed came to an angle so I sat up. Caleb sat next to me on the bed and fed me until all of the soup was gone.

" Caleb why do you do this?" I asked
" what?" he looked confused
" you care for me so much you always make sure I'm okay why do you do it Caleb? Why do you care about me so so so much?"
" it's because I love you more than anything in the world." He said and kissed my lips passionately.

After about 1/2 hour I saw the family walk in with balloons, blankets, and flowers.

" how are you Emily?" Katie asked
" i have some pain still but it feels a lot better."

Then Annie and Hayley walked over.

" we brought you these balloons and these flowers. " Annie said setting the colorful flowers on my tiny nightstand. Then tied the balloons to the hospital bed.

" I brought you something from home I thought you might like." Hayley said handing me my favorite blanket.
" awe thank you girls so much I really needed a blanket these ones aren't soft at all." I said laughing while attempting to hug the two girls.

" we are proud of you we hope your feeling better." Billy said patting my shoulder softly.

" thank you so much." I said.

We all talked for a few hours and they left but Caleb stayed.

* hours later*

it was about 9:45 pm and Caleb looked at me.

" babe it's time for bed you have had a big day." " yeah I am pretty tired." I said followed by a yawn.
he laid in my bed with me and we laid under the huge soft blanket Hayley brought us.

He rubbed his nose against mine.

" Caleb why don't you go to the house it's more comfy there."
" no I'm staying here." He said
" I love you bubs." I said as we pressed our lips together.
" I love you too." He said and we fell asleep.

I was so blessed to be alive.
