Adelaide

I looked around the room for any ways to escape. I didn't want to be stuck in this room with my traitor mate, who wants to know about Marshall. I scanned the room again, Aha! There's a window! Would he get mad if I jumped through it? Nah, I don't care.

"Adelaide, tell me." Flynn said, still blocking the door. His voice knocked me out of my thoughts.

"Why should I tell you anything?" I said, with no emotion.

"Because I deserve to know."

"How did you come to that assumption?" I asked, growing irritated. He sighed.

"Because I'm your mate, and I have the right to know who Marshall was to you." I scoffed.

"You? My mate? I would have never known." I said, gradually stepping towards the window.

"Adelaide, just hear me out." He said, but I just rolled my eyes.

"No, you made me believe that you cared about me, took me back to your god damn pack, and then drugged me! Then you force me to help your stupid little group while threatening the only family I have left! Not to mention you almost fucking killed me Flynn! I would be dead right now if Alex didn't step in. So don't tell me that you deserve to know who Marshall was because you're my mate. Flynn, you clearly aren't my mate, because that is not how mates act." I said, finally getting that off my chest.

I should just reject him.

"No! Don't you dare Adelaide! I will never forgive you!"

'Dont you see how he treats us? Why would you want to stay by someone who is so toxic?'

"He's our mate, give him a chance"

'I already did, and he blew it.' I blocked Lila out, and focused back on Flynn, who had a defeated expression on his face.

"I am your mate, Adelaide. Things just got complicated."

I snorted. "Complicated? Thats all you have to say? Things got complicated."

"Well if you would calm down for just a second then I would tell you!" He yelled, knotting his hair in his hands.

"Screw you Flynn! Being here is just a big joke, I shouldn't be helping a group whose members would betray their mates."

"Well I didn't ask for a mate like you!" He yelled, finally getting what he felt off his chest. I was waiting for him to explode, but there was an ache in my chest as soon as he did.

"And what does that mean?" I asked, glaring at him.

"I wanted a mate who was simple, someone I could show off. But no, people are afraid of you because you make them and you have so much baggage I'm surprised Julian puts up with you." He said, his eyes glowing. I stayed silent, his words hurting more than I care to admit.

"Well, then it's a good thing you have Claire, right?" I asked, in a quiet voice. I smirked just a bit, but even I could tell it was forced.

He shook his head, and looked away, with regret in his eyes. He must be faking it. I couldn't trust anything he did.
