The ache in my chest is not all mine. Half of the spreading pain is coming from someone else, someone I care deeply for.

Adelaide

She truly didn't deserve any of this. She had done some terrible things in her life, but she has remained kind to those close to her. I would know how vicious and cruel she could be, if she wanted to. She puts on a cold front, but rids of it when she's with the people she loves.

At one point, she loved me enough to show her true self. But after what I've done to her, she'll never forgive me.

I tried my hardest to refuse Marshall, it's just easy for him to find my weakness, to find the family I had desperately tried to hide from him.  I couldn't escape the images of him holding my mother, his claws so close to sinking into her delicate neck. The sickness had caused her skin to grow thin, his claws may not have meant to go through it like paper, but they had.

I was helpless, and desperate to save my family. That is the only reason I did what I did.

But I'm going to make it right. I know I will. I had relocated my mother and sister to a small town in Spain, where a group of witches hide from the humans. I hope, no, I know they will be safe there.

My suitcase was on top of the small, dusty bed of my hotel room, packed full of my clothes, and toiletries. I had a backpack bursting with various items that helped me with the spell I cast on Adelaide, and will hopefully help me break it.

I hauled my heavy backpack over my shoulders, and picked up my suitcase. I left the room key on the small desk next to the ancient t.v. and quickly left the room, shutting the door behind me. I glanced over my shoulder a couple times, sensing that there were none of Marshall's lackeys following me.

I rushed to my beat up pick up truck, throwing my bags into the bed, and starting the engine. Closing my eyes for a moment, I pictured Adelaide in my head, and focused on her location. I smelled the air, getting a quick whiff of petrichor. It will rain today.

I put the car in drive, and sped down the road, following the glowing white dot in my head. I needed to get there before it started to rain, or else the connection would become foggy and weak. I was going at least 20 over the speed limit by the time I reached a large wooded area, and by the time it had started to sprinkle. Damnit.

I held the image of her in my head as long as I could, but it was now distorted, and blurred. I pulled over to the side of the road and punched the steering wheel.

How will I make this right, if I cant even find her?

I took a deep breath, and reached through the small window that went out into the bed, and pulled in my backpack. I dug out my small vile of a certain demons blood. He said to use it only during emergencies. This was an emergency, right?

I didn't dwell on the question as I took the vile and dug out a glass dropper, putting a small amount of the black liquid into each eye.

Here goes nothing

I was immersed in black, it swallowed me up, and then spit me out again. It was a disturbing process, but I had done it so many times I had gotten used to it.

The nameless demon stood before me, his odd eyes glared in my direction.

"What do you want boy? You interrupted a very important moment." He spat, the violet in his eyes becoming more pronounced. I gulped, but squared my shoulders.
