Okay so I know that I said I would wait to update, but after finishing this chapter I just have to publish it! I hope you all love the ending as much as I did (;
Adelaide
The Shadow Alliance was having a special meeting today, since we only had one day left until Marshall would be here. Angelo was sitting front and center at the long table, with Jax, looking stoic, next to him. Flynn was one more seat down, and I was next to him. Someone had pushed a crummy office chair up to the table for me to sit down in, and a loose spring was currently digging into my thigh.
Angelo stood up from his chair, and the annoying chatter filling the room died down almost instantly.
"I have been thinking about the different options that we have in our current situation. Today will be the last day of your training. Hopefully you believe that Adelaide has taught you at least something about how rogues like those involved with the Collectors fight." Many of the men nodded their heads. I grinned, grateful that at least a couple of people had paid attention to my annoying self.
"But with our limited amount of men who can fight, I have brought our imminent battle to the attention of the other packs that are around us, to those who can offer their assistance in taking down the Collectors. Many other packs share our opinion of the Collectors. As of yesterday, there are four other packs that have agreed to join us."
"Which packs?" Someone asked.
"The Vicious Moon pack, the Dawnfall pack, the Dusk Warriors pack, and the Scarlet Valley pack."
I raised my eyebrows at the Dusk Warriors. It seems as if I'm going to be seeing Blondie again.
"They will all be arriving today, around noon. That's in two hours. All of the packs will combine into one large group at two o'clock for training, and then we will prepare battle strategies once everyone is ready."
He looks around the table until his eyes land on mine. He gives me a short nod, then continues talking.
"I understand that this situation is dire, and not the most pleasant thing to be thinking about on a Thursday morning. But, we have worked up to this moment for years. This is finally our time to finish what we started, and end the suffering that has come by the hands of the damned Collectors. We will be ready, and we will win this!" He finished, pounding his fist on the table. Everyone stood to attention, standing tall. I stared at the men around me, with a determined expression.
These will be the people I go to war with.
I catch Jax's eye, and see that he is already staring at me. His eyes are narrowed, and his eyebrows are scrunched together, like he's trying to solve a difficult puzzle. I stare back at him, until Flynn places his hand on my shoulder.
I glance up at him, and see he'a giving me a questioning look. I just shrug, and follow those who are filing out of the room.
"Fylnn, stay." Angelo calls out, when we're both almost to the door. Flynn gives me a kiss on the cheek and walks back inside the room, the door closing behind him.
What's that about?
I ran my fingers through my hair, lost in thought, as I walked down the now deserted hallway. It seemed strange that Angelo had basically left us alone for the past couple of days, and now he wanted to talk to Flynn alone.
I was snapped out of my thoughts as Jax stepped around the corner, and stopped right in front of me. I raised one eyebrow, and went to step around him, but he put a beefy hand around my forearm. I looked at it for a second, before quickly twisting his wrist and pushing him against the wall. The momentum from the push made me stagger a bit, but I recovered before Jax could get out of my hold.
