Past

Devlin missed out on the conversation Jude and Ivan were having about some dude named Putin, he was busy focusing on his ex-girlfriend who he noticed was walking across the street with some wigger guy.

"Seriously man, Vladi- or whatever his name is- Can't get even more badass; This guy is crazy!" Jude exclaimed, Ivan rolled his eyes and poked Devlin on the arm.

Devlin chose to wear a grey suit today. Because he wasn't in the mood for black, he picked grey because it reminded him of cloudy skies and rain, just like he liked it.

He could feel Jasmine pulling away from him. Before they had broken up; He felt something, he knew she was over him, even when he still tried being with her...

He wasn't in to black girls, no.. He didn't like black girls, he forced to tell himself. But staring at Jasmine's dark skin made him want and miss her. He loved the way her caramel hair lit up in the sun, and how she swayed her hips when she walked.

"She's not your girl anymore brah." Jude whispered in his ear, then began cackling like a hyena.

"Fuck that nigger man. She 'fuggin' took your heart and ate it mate. Fuck'n tore that shit open with a razor blade."

Mark yelled, making teeth noises.

Marky as usual, sounded like a slow stoner, who liked to lie about surfing.

"Fuckin bitch is with that wigger now look-it." Mark pointed at Jasmine, as he made a loud ape like noise.

Devlin rolled his eyes.

His friends were trolls.

"Fuckin niggers." Devlin spat and then turned around to face his buddies. "Why do we even have black people in this fucked up town?" He yelled, grabbing on to Ivans shoulder.

Ivan didn't say anything, he just stared down at the floor.

"Shut up." A woman in her thirties yelled out, as she covered her daughter's ears. "Do you have any respect! You all are bird-brained!"

There was an awkward silence, until Jude broke it.

"Bird-brained?" Jude repeated, scratching his head.

"Where did you come from? The Eighties?"

Devlin walked over to the mother and leaned down so that he was at eye level with the little girl. She had eyes like winter and her hair was a soft blonde.

He liked blonde hair, out of all the colors his mom dyed her hair with, he didn't understand why she didn't stick with blonde.

"Get away from us!" The mother yelled, trying to back up, but bumped into Mark.

"Want to know some ting little girl?"

Apparently the mother didn't have her daughter's ears covered enough, because she nodded her head.

"All people of dark skinned, like dat pavement over there." He pointed at the ground.

"They are to be called niggers, and bird-brained like your mother just said." He said low, the woman disgustedly stared at him and picked up her child and darted away.
