Jude sensed new people from a mile away.

Katrina was that person.

When she first moved into town, he heard rumors. He heard stories, he heard gossip. He didn't like how racist the townsfolk was about her, But he knew just by seeing her for the first time, that she would be someone perfect for Devlin.

And that's how he knew her name right away.

The night they officially met, he asked her if she was okay? He tried to get her to introduce herself and talk to him, but he knew she wasn't going to, because she didn't seem like the kind of girl that the town talked about.

Nothing changed about this town.

He first saw her at Kale & Ford.

He thought to himself...

"She's hot."

It amazed him so much that he decided to ask his buddy in the business what she was like. His buddy didn't really say much except that she was shy and quiet.

And that's all he needed to hear.

So Katrina to him was a mystery girl.

And he loved mysteries.

He also loved Devlin and his family; He just hoped,
if he played his cards right, she could make his best friend happy again.

Because that's what he has.

But.. He couldn't say anything.

Because if Devlin knew what he was doing, he would probably strangle him. Jude worked in silence, he waited patiently, and he prayed that Devlin would be a changed man.

He asked God for guidance while Devlin was locked up. He went to church again with his family, and tried to stay away from the boys, but he couldn't give up that ganja.

Him and Ivan only smoked with the crew for about thirty minutes and then they would be out of the men's way.
That's how it was since Devlin's been gone, it felt like everything stilled. People were changing around him... Having babies and working, being with that same crowd for thirty minutes seemed like things weren't going anywhere.

Jude didn't want that for Devlin.

He didn't care much for Franco, because he was a piece of shit. But Devlin... Jude knew Devlin was just like him and Ivan. Except the terrible racist remarks he would say.
Yeah, the kid barked, but you know what they say?

The mean ones always loved you the most.

He gave Devlin a pass because Devlin, whether the shit came out of his mouth or not, was not a racist man. And Devlin would say things that would surprise him and Ivan; Like when they would walk to Gino's, he tried to remember right, but Devlin would say things like...

"I heard black women liked strong American men."

Or.

"You could say anything, to make panties drip."

Jude rolled his eyes, that's when he kind of felt that Devlin was putting up a huge front, mostly because when him and his family moved there, they LITERALLY blended in. Like they were aliens or some shit, which he thought.

"Did my family do that when we moved here?"

When he had dinner with Devlin's family one night, he wasn't really paying attention to what Devlin's father and another gentlemen was discussing over, but he heard him say: "Turks get a pass." And they laughed it off drinking a beer. The man, his father introduced them to, was a black guy, a huge security guard. And Devlin was laughing with the men, elbowing the guy, and the guy tugged on Devlin's shirt and sighed.
