Review:

•Skip the (_) if you are easily upset.

This story reflects on the way people view each other and themselves. It shows that although people may judge you you are also judging them and yourself. I think that anyone who has insecurities about their body should read this. Even if you don't have insecurities, which I doubt, this story can show you what others are going through and that your words have power.

(On yourself and to others.)

The curves ahead shows that not everyone is against you and that you may be your biggest enemy. These days everyone is , in my opinion, overly sensitive about body issues and other insecurities. Although this story is about a girl who is plus size it deals with more than just being over weight and hating yourself.

(I used plus size instead of curvy because to me it is counter productive. If people are wanting to be all about positive body image than, why make being plus size a bad thing? Anyone can be considered curvy. To me saying plus size is a bad thing and calling people curvy instead is like saying someone is "big boned". My mom said that her mom would always say that she was "just big boned" and that it hurt her feelings more than her mom just saying that she though she was fat. So that's why to me saying you're plus size is okay. If you feel bad about it look at all of the plus size models that are gaining popularity. Plus size doesn't mean over weight, you can be plus size and still be healthy.)

The main character learns how to be happy with herself and how to take care of herself. Through the journey she takes she gets to see the different views there are in life. By hearing and seeing other people's stories of how they've overcome their own struggles she sees things differently. This story is more than over coming outward appearance, but also overcoming internal battles.

I like how this story shows that by making little changes it can change your whole perspective on life. That their is always a reason behind your insecurities and once you make peace with them you'll be able to move on to a better life. People choose the way they see the world. If they can get past whatever is holding them back they can help their self to a happier life.

(If anyone was offended by what I said earlier about plus size being a good thing I'm sorry you feel that way. To me that's just how it is. Everything that has been preached about body positivity is a good thing and a bad thing in my opinion because their are two sides. For example I both like and dislike the Lane Bryant commercial. It's clever, but also it makes it seem like being skinny or skinnier than one person bad.

I did chuckle when I first saw it because , "I'm no angel", is the kind of stupid funny thing I find hilarious. But, the way things are going with the body positively stuff is making it seem like there are two sides. You're either a skinny bitch or a curvy confident woman. Why can't this body positivity fad be about body positivity? Labels like skinny, rail thin, thick, chunky, curvy, and fat shouldn't matter because being healthy and living your life the way you want to is what matters.

The plus size models that have been gaining popularity have been because of that. I've watch a lot of their interviews and they all say almost the same things. They don't deny having insecurities about their body or having to tell themselves in the mirror that they are worth it. They believe in themselves and so others do to. If you look closely they are doing the same things "skinny models" are.

Just because someone is thinner than you doesn't mean they aren't going through the same problems. Both "types" of models look good because they take care of their bodies and show their inner confidence. The hair, makeup, and clothes help too. I don't even like saying that there our types of models besides the actual job description type. Anyway I hope all of you who do take the time to read The Curves Ahead learn something valuable. )
