I slowly backed around the corner, covering my mouth with my hands, trying to prevent the horrible choking noises from escaping my mouth. Once I rounded the corner, I sprinted down to the main doors and out into the Forbidden Forest. Tear tracks streaked down my face as I finally let the tears flow; how could Ron do this to me? I trusted him! I thought he cared about me! As I reached the edge of the Forest, the choking noises started coming out if my mouth; I couldn't hold them back anymore. More tears raced down my cheeks as I ran further and further into the Forest. I only stopped when my legs couldn't carry me any more. I collapsed at the foot of a large tree and curled up into a ball.
[DRACO'S POV]
I was walking to the Slytherin Common Room after I took the practical portion of the Defense Against the Dark Arts OWL, when someone rammed into me, nearly knocking me over. I whipped around, ready to tell them off and take points away from whatever House they were in, but I recognized that blonde hair. What was wrong? I ran after her and watched as she ran into the Forbidden Forest. I followed her and found crumpled at the bottom of a tree. I heard some bloody awful noise and I realized she was crying. I walked over to her and sat down. After a minute of just sitting and feeling extremely uncomfortable, I slowly wrapped my arms around her. She flinched and sat up immediately.
"Oh, Draco, it's only you.. Hi..." She sniffled.
"Hey, what's wrong, hun? You can talk to me about anything, you know" I whispered and she laid her head in the crook of my neck and wrapped her arms around my torso. She started crying even harder and I just said, "Shh, it's going to be okay. I promise. I'm here if you want to talk." I saw her give a small nod. "Skylar, look at me" I said. She turned to me and I finally got a good look at her beautiful face. Her eyes were red and puffy and she had that black eye makeup, whatever it's called, smeared down her cheeks.
"It's because I'm ugly, isn't it?" She asked quietly and my jaw dropped. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever laid eyes on; why would she think she was ugly?
"What are you talking about?" I questioned. "Listen to me, Skylar, I don't know what happened or why you think you're ugly, but I can assure you, you're stunning. Now, tell me, what's wrong?"
She sighed and looked back at the Forest floor. "IsawRonsnoggingLavenderBrown."
"Sorry.. I didn't catch that..." I muttered and she turned to me again, her big, beautiful grey eyes brimming with tears.
"I saw Ron snogging Lavender Brown" she whispered, her voice catching when she said Lavender's name. "He- he's cheating on me..." More tears ran down her face and I hugged her. She was tense at first, but eventually relaxed into my arms and hugged me back, tighter than how I was hugging her. "Thank you, Draco. I guess you aren't such a git after all" she whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
I kissed her temple and stroked her hair. "I'm really not" I said and smirked, causing her to smile slightly. "You know you want to smile, Skylar. Please, smile for me, you're beautiful - even if you do look a little bit like a raccoon with your smeared makeup and frizzy hair."
She looked at me with wide eyes, adding to the raccoon effect. "Do I really look like a raccoon?" I nodded with a wide grin on my face when she buried her head in her hands muttering something that sounded like, "ohmygod so embarrassing."
"Hey no, no, it's not that bad... Just... Go clean up or something?" I suggested, smiling, "then you can talk to Weasley." I spit as I said his name. How dare he hurt Skylar - what a prat; Skylar deserves so much more than that filthy blood-traitor.
'She is also a blood-traitor' a little voice inside my head said, but I ignored it. Skylar was so much kinder than Weasley or Saint Potter. She's like, a good blood-traitor, I guess.
I extended my hand, offering to help her up, and and gladly accepted. She pulled her cloak over her head in attempt to hide her face and help my hand as we walked back to the castle.
[SKYLAR'S POV]
I gripped Draco's hand tighter as we progressed closer to the castle. Out of nowhere, I saw a ginger boy come running across the courtyard while flailing his arms everywhere. I pulled my cloak tighter around my head, not wanting to be recognized until I had cleaned up.
"Has anyone seen Skye?!" Ron bellowed at a group of Gryffindors sitting near our tree. They all shook their heads no and Ron stormed off while running his fingers through his hair in frustration.
"Wonder what he wants..." I mumbled.
"I dunno" Draco replied, giving my hand a gentle squeeze.
Ron must have spotted Draco and decided he needed to talk to me bad enough to interrogate Draco about my whereabouts because he jogged over to us.
"Malfoy" Ron spit, "have you seen Skylar? Light blonde hair, big grey eyes, really really nice, about yay-tall..." Ron described.
Draco squeezed my hand again, telling me he had it under control. "No, Weasley, I haven't seen Smith anywhere. I suggest you look in the kitchens, though. Last time I saw her, she ran down there crying."
Draco smirked as Ron paled and muttered a quick, "bloody hell" before sprinting back in the direction of the castle to look for me in the kitchens.
"You have, say, ten minutes to get back to your Common Room before Weasley heads back" Draco said, nudging me along with a half-smile. I flashed him a half-hearted smile back before scurrying up seven flights of stairs to my Common Room.
"Mimbulus Mimbletonia" I told the Fat Lady and she immediately let me enter the Gryffindor Common Room. Only moments later, a red faced, sweaty Ron came bursting inside and a look of dread crossed his face when he saw me.
"Skye, let me explain! I know it looks bad, but I promise it's not what it looks like. Please, hear me out" he begged. "Please, just listen to what I have to say before you decide if you'll accept my apology." I nodded my head slowly, avoiding his eyes, knowing I'd forgive him immediately if I looked him in the eyes.
"Alright, so I was trying to get in the portrait hole after DADA, right? And then, out of nowhere, Lavender comes up behind me and puts her hands in front of my eyes. Naturally, I figured it was you, so I turned around, ready to kiss you, but I ended up snogging Lavender instead! Please, you have to understand that it was just a mistake and I honestly didn't mean to hurt you" Ron said in one big breath.
I slowly lifted my head, letting my swollen, red eyes meet Ron's pleading ones. One look and I could tell he wasn't lying.
"Ron..." I whispered and he spread his arms. I threw myself into them and hugged him tightly.
"Skye, I promise I would never cheat on you. Ever. I'm not that type of guy."
