Once everyone was in the house, they settled into seats. It was a long aakward silence before anyone broke it. "What are we gonna do?", Soda asked. Winter flinched at the loud interruption. Everyone noticed and she grabbed onto Johnny tighter. It was like he was the only one she trusted.
"I think we need more rules", Darry said. "No no no. Rules are what got us into this mess to begin with. If you didnt have so many rules, Ms. Rebel wouldnt have to break them so often", Dallas said. A soft giggle could be made out from Johnnys chest where Winter was hiding her head. Dallas smirked of approval. Everyone knew Winter trusted Dally as much as Johnny. It would be everyone elses job to build their trust with her back up.
"But there has to be some kind of rules like getting home at ten o clock..." "No. As long as they get home, it should be fine", Dallas said. "But what about a dress code..." "As long as she doesnt do all that stuff or get pregnant it shouldnt be a problem how she dresses..." Winter burst into tears. Everyone looked shocked. Johnny pulled her on to his lap and tried to calm her down but to no avail. "Whats wrong Win? Did i say something? I mean, i was trying to stick up for you", Dallas said. He looked completely disgruntled. He didnt like that she was upset with him.
"It...its ok. You didnt know", she said. Now everyone was confused. What did they not know? "What is it Win?", Dallas asked. She just shook her head, trying to dismiss it, but to no avail. "I have a new rule. We have to tell each other everything", Darry said. Was he all about rules? "I second that rule", Soda said. Everyone began to mutter besides Winter and Johnny, who thought you should respect someones business.
"Ok. Winter, please tell us what you meant", Darry said, trying his best to be patient. He hated not being in the loop. Winter saw she wasnt going to get out of it, so she whispered it into Johnnys ear. His eyes widened and Winter began to cry again. She hadnt wanted anyone to know, but she knew Johnny wouldnt mind at all. She knew Johnny wouldnt tell anyone. Not if the situation had come to this. She knew her brother and role model would know in seconds and she was ashamed. It was all her fault anyway.
"What did she say Johnny?", Dallas asked. Johnny was still shocked at what he heard. He knew how Winter felt about children and knew she was hurting. Alot. "S..she c..cant ha..have kids no more", Johnny sputtered out. Everyone gasped. Dallas frowned real big. "Ill be back", he seethed as he left and slammed the door. The Curtis brothers were speechless. They knew as well how much Winter liked kids.
"Winter, we are so sorry. We didnt know. The doctor didnt say anything...", Soda sputtered. "Its are fault anyway. We should of let ya date Johnny in the first place. We are real sorry Win", Darry said. "Its all right Win. Kids stink anyway", Two said, which got him smacked in the head by Steve. "You just dont say that to her when shes upset. You can be so dumb sometimes Two, I swear", Steve said. "Says the highschool drop out." "Says Mr. Failed three grades." Then those two began to wrestle around on the floor.
Winter slowly rose from Johnnys lap to the floor. She sat in front of the bogs wrestling. She kicked them which made them stop and sit up, staring at her wide eyed. She looked terrible. Blood shot eyes and a pale face. "I dont want you guys to feel bad for me. It would make me feel bad. I dont need sympathy", she said. Then she walked back over and cuddled closer to Johnny. "Is there anyway we could have the old Winter back?", Soda asked. "I dont know", she said quietly. Everyone seemed to notice Pony being so quiet. That was probably upsetting Winter. She wanted so badly for things to go back to normal, but she didnt think it would. Pony couldnt even look her in the eyes. What she didnt know was that he blamed himself for everything. "Umm... Pony? Do you want to say anything to Winter?", Darry asked. He shook his head, and left the room. "Ill go talk to him", Soda offered. "Ill come too", Darry said.
The two of them left the room as Dally came in. He was smiling. "Problem solved! He cant have children either", he said. Winter laughed a little which made Dally smile bigger. "What did you do Dally?", Johnny asked, trying to hide his smile. "Oh its nothing. He just got kicked around alot in certain places", he said casually.
"Yeah good going Dal", Steve and Two hollered. Winter smiled. Steve and Two started wrestling again, while Dally sat next to Johnny and Winter. "He'll never hurt you again Winter", he told her. "Thanks Dal", she said. Then the Curtis brothers came back out. The older two pushed Pony towards Winter. He got down on his knees so he was eye level with Winter. Then he began to speak.
