Chapter 18

Matt kept me behind him as he peeked through the basement door. He cursed quietly and turned to face me, "is there any other way out of here?"

"Well there is the underground passage... It hasn't been used in years though." I mumbled, turning back to the man tied to the torture table.

"Go look for it, those guys out the look like they're out for blood." He hissed, closing the door as much as he could without making a sound.

"Ok, be safe." I whispered, pecking his lips quickly.

I ran down the steps to the man tied to the table, he looked more scared then me, but was trying to mask it with a smirk. "I wasn't going to kill you," I sighed, stuffing a gag laced with wolfs bane and stuffed in his mouth, before tightening the ropes around him. "And I'm not going to." I finished while I wrapped his hand with some gauze, "I'm sorry I hurt you, but I hope there's some humanity in you."

The man's eyes glazed over as he stared at me. It looked like he was trying to tell me something with his eyes, but I couldn't understand as I looked away from him to a panicked Matt.  I felt a pinch of guilt for leaving him here, but focused on the task at hand and rushed over to the cement wall which had the secret passage. "Now which panel is it?" I mumbled to myself as I began feeling the wall.

"Hurry babe." Matt hissed at the door.

I bit my lip and continued feeling the wall until one of the bricks retracted into the wall. I let out the breath I didn't realize I was holding in and watched as the secret tunnel made itself visible, "come on!" I called to Matt, rushing into the passage.

The tunnel was lit by some torches, but there were spider webs everywhere. I steeled myself and grabbed a torch to swat them away with just as Matt entered the tunnel. The doors closed, just as the basement doors were opened. I looked at Matt and gestured for him to quietly follow me as I tried to get us out of here.

Mom and Dad had told me this was strictly for emergencies, but we've never used it so I had no idea where it ended. As long as it gets me away from that 'Cane' guy, then how bad could it really be I guess.

"Do you have your phone?" Matt whispered from behind me.

"Nope, so we need to feel for an exit." I instructed to the walls, placing my hand on it as we continued walking down the path.

"Have you been down here before?" He ask as he placed his hand on the opposite wall feeling for the exit.

"Nope, there was no use for it. Mom and Dad had it as a precaution, but we never saw the need for it." I mumbled, pausing and looking at my now dirty hand. There was no doubt I'd need a bath after being in here.

"So, you have no idea how to get out of here?" He asked incredulously.

"We'll find a way and we have each other," I sighed, turning to face him, placing the torch in an empty holder.

"Yeah," he sighed wrapping his arms around me, pulling me into a comforting hug.

"I'll link my parents, if they get the message they'll find us," I murmured into his chest.

I felt him nod, as I opened the link between my parents and I. Mom, Dad. Matt and I are stuck in the escape tunnel and we have no idea how to get out. We're safe though, we got out just in time, I hope you here this and find us soon.

"Now we wait I guess." I groaned, pulling away from Matt and leaning against the nearby wall.

He nodded and leaned against the wall opposite of me, "wanna play a game?"

I laughed and gave him a small nod. At least we'd find a way to pass time down here I guess.
