"We are gathered here today to witness the testimony of Ms. Knight and Mr. Moon, as they recount the last few weeks of grief they have encountered." Alpha Silver Lake announced loudly to his pack.
The crowd now sat on chairs that were brought outside after the first announcement and listened attentively to what their alpha said. No one looked away as the pack doctor raised a needle filled with serum and flicked it, before looking at me. I on the other hand gulped, having a distinct hatred for needles.
"WAIT!" Matt caught their attention, making Alpha Silver Lake look back at him. "She's afraid of needles, isn't there some other way to give her the serum?" He asked desperately.
Alpha Silver Lake sighed, gesturing to the doctor, mumbling a few things to him and looking back at me. The doctor ruffled through the small black doctors bag he had brought to the stage with him, pulling out a small cup and removing some of the liquid from the needle and into the cup. He handed me the cup and I took a whiff of the serum, wincing at the metallic smell, before taking a quick gulp of it, ignoring the taste and feeling in my mouth, as it traveled through my system.
"Alright, let's try out a test out a test question," the Alpha announced, "What is your name?"
"Samantha Knight," I announced automatically, looking up at the Alpha.
"What is your rank?"
"Future Beta."
"Who is your mate?"
"Matthew Moon."
"Why have you come to the Silver Lake pack?"
"To seek shelter from Adam Moon, the man who has killed off a majority of my pack."
"Where is the rest of your pack?"
"I do not know."
"Do you know if Adam Moon attacked alone?"
"No, I don't think so. There's no way he could cause that much damage alone."
"What happened the day of this attack?"
"I rejected the proposal of Adam Moon and Matt and I announced our mate bond. Later that day I was personally attacked, so with the help of my mate we captured this man and gained as much information possible, but soon were faced with an unknown man out to find me, so Matt and I were not there for the attack on my pack as we had to escape from the attack of an unknown killer and so upon return we saw our slaughtered members and a message written in blood to me by Adam Moon."
"What did this message read?"
"I told you I would be back."
"What happened after you received this message?"
"Matt and I escaped and traveled from pack to pack for help until reaching you."
"What are your other reasons for being at my pack?"
"For shelter, until I can figure out who is after me and how to stop Adam Moon."
"Are you expecting for my pack to protect you and your mate?"
"No, I do not."
"Thank you for all the information Ms. Knight, that will be all." The Alpha nodded, and the doctor handed me another cup. I took it gingerly and drank the liquid, feeling the disgusting taste of metal disappear from my system.
"Alright, Mr. Moon, please take a seat." The doctor said, as I stood and walked over to the side of the stage with an empty seat awaiting me. Matt took a seat in the chair I had just sat in and the doctor injected him with the serum, but he didn't flinch as he looked up at Alpha Silver Lake, waiting for the questioning to begin.
"What is your name?"
"Matthew Moon."
"What is your rank?"
"Pack fighter."
"Who is your mate?"
"Samantha Knight."
"What occurred the day of your proclamation of being mates?"
"My brother was terribly angry and threatened the pack, before leaving and causing alarm."
"Is it true that your brother is out to kidnap and claim your mate as his own?"
"I assume so, because there's no way he'd do this just for the hell of it."
"Is it true that soon after that you and Ms. Knight encountered as she'd like to call it, an unknown killer?"
"Yes, he was at Sam's house trying to kidnap her, but we apprehended him and interrogated him."
"What happened the night of the attack?"
"Samantha and I were in the woods attempting to find our way home from the escape and when we reached the pack house finally there were bodies everyone with blood and the message written by my brother. Samantha and I didn't stay and went to look for shelter from packs until reaching you."
"What are your intentions here at my pack?"
"To stay safe with my mate and protect her from any threats, until we know it is safe to look for surviving members of our pack."
"Do you expect for my pack to protect you both?"
"No, I just want my mate to be safe until the time comes for us to leave."
"Thank you Mr. Moon, that will be all the questioning." With that the doctor gave Matt a cup of the same serum removing drink and Matt came to stand behind my seat in attempt to comfort me.
The audience and the alpha seemed to mull over their thoughts, clearly talking through their pack link about Matt and I probably to try and make a decision on whether we stayed or were to be removed from their land. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the alpha turned to Matt and I announcing, "you are free to stay as long as you need."

This chapter is a little longer than normal, so I hope you all enjoyed it
I tried my best to make it interesting and not super bland and felt this was a good outcome
