Kimberley's POV
Anxiety. Fear. Regret. Maybe not regret.
I was standing in front of the kitchen sink, staring out the window, at the beat-up silver car parked in the driveway.
Cheryl's car. I sighed. What a night. My thoughts drifted back further, to the fight between her and my ex Brandon and
instantly I had a sour taste in my mouth. I can't believe he actually hit a girl. I can't believe he hit HER. And she was so furious. Never in any of my wildest thoughts had she ever looked so livid or so hot. Smile started curling up my lips.
She looks so striking when she is angry. I couldn't help but kiss her. I flinched back at the memory, abruptly, as if I'd
just touched a hot stove. What did I do! What were you thinking, Kimberley? You have ruined everything now. I felt a
tug at my leg, brining me out of my thoughts. Joe was staring up at me expectantly, holding his juice cup.
"Kay, I want some joose." I smiled down at his big brown eyes and his cute dimples. They would serve as a good
distraction from my wandering thoughts for now.
"Ok mate, what will it be: orange or apple?"
"Apple joose!" he squealed as he ran towards the fridge, opening the door. "You are going to get tired of apple 'joose'
one of these days." I smirked.
"No I won't!"
I filled up his cup and handed it to him. Just then, we heard the front door opening and Joe raced towards it. It was
Tommy. "Hey Joe, my man!"
"He-wo wammy!"
I couldn't hold in my amusement. 'Wammy'. It sound like some Star Wars alien. But then, Tommy did sort of look like
an alien.
"Hi ya 'Wammy'," I said as I was met with a huge white smile, "Haven't you heard of knocking?" He ignored me as
usual.
"Easy Lay." He said grinning, earning a death glare from me. "How are you feeling this morning?"
"Confused. Tired. Confused."
He smirked. "Well, you certainly didn't look confused last night in the alley when you were you know..." he looked
down at Joe and then back at me with a very naughty smile. I went red. He chuckled loudly and swept Joe up onto his
shoulders.
"You saw that?!" I whispered. Oh my god! He was just looking at me with his huge smile that said he did see. I was
blushing furiously now. I'm never going to hear the end of this -- fodder for more teasing.
"You were spying on me!" I tried to counter.
"Not at first. Honestly! I heard shouting, so I peeked outside to check on you... But I didn't see any fighting going on."
he said with a sly tone.
"Oh my god."
More laughing.
"I think I discovered what - or 'who' - your happy place is", he said, clearly enjoying me embarrassment.
"Tom, if you tell anyone. ANYONE. I will kill you."
"Relax Kim. Besides, it didn't look like she wasn't enjoying it. It was actually pretty hot. You pick well."
"Oh my God." I covered my face and he continued his relentless teasing.
"We need to take her car back soon."
"Huh? What?"
"That tin can in your driveway, remember? I said I'd take it to her house this morning."
Oh sh!t. That's right. I'd forgotten completely about actually having to return it to her. "I... I don't know where she
lives."
"Not a problem little lay!" he said enthusiastically, "Her dad gave me directions last night. So we can go whenever you
are ready."
What!? Oh no, I can't see her. What will I say? What will SHE say? "Oh God," I mumbled under my breath. "I can't go
with you Tom" I said, as if I was in pain... which in truth, I was.
"Sure you can. And you are! How am I supposed to get back to your house? We need to go in two cars. So go get
dressed"
He still had a sh!t eating grin plastered to his face as I moped to my room, defeated. He was clearly enjoying my
agony.
