Kimberley's POV
That evening we decided to go to Vue after school, as we both were in the mood to watch a movie. We split up as Cheryl went to get the popcorn and I went to get the tickets. There wasn’t a line since the movie we were watching was a foreign one so I was able to get the tickets quite fast and went to wait for Cheryl, next to the entrance.
Suddenly I noticed my ex, Brandon at the other end of the ticket hall.
“sh!t.” I cursed under my breath. I got out my mobile and called Cheryl.
Cheryl answered laughing. “Don’t worry I remembered to order yours with butter on top Kimba”
“Brandon’s here.” I said directly.
“What? Where are you?” asked Cheryl, panic rising in her voice.
“I’m at the entrance. sh!t he's walking towards me. I’ll ditch him and meet you outside.” I didn't want Cheryl and him in the same place, last time that happened , it was quite a disaster.
"No, wait…“ started Cheryl, but I hung up the phone. Wouldn't want Cheryl to be grounded again, would we?
"Kimberley, what a pleasure to see you here.” said Brandon sarcastically.
"Brandon" I greeted him equally sarcastically, although inside I was scared as a chicken “the pleasure’s all mine.”
“Well I saw you standing here all alone and thought I’d come say hi.”
“How nice of you.” I said with a forced smile.
“So who’s the lucky one meeting you here?” he asked mockingly.
“Actually,” I started, ”I was just leav…”
Suddenly, I felt soft yet strong arms wrapping around my waist. I'd know that touch anywhere. Cheryl. I asked you not to come, you always have to play saviour, don't ya?
“Here’s your popcorn babe” She said and handed the bucket to me, then to my surprise she pulled me in and kissed me squarely on the lips. Then she turned to Brandon and feigned a surprised look, while I was still touching my lips where I was kissed. Okay, I change my mind, I love it when you play saviour.
“Brandon, how's your nose?” She said with a smile. I stifled a chuckle.
"Cheryl” Brandon only managed to say as he looked wide eyed at her, touching his nose out of pure reflex.
She turned to me. “You got the tickets, baby?” she asked and winked at me, flirtatiously. I'm loving saviour Cheryl, no Kimberley, stop blushing like that.
“Uh, yeah.” I answered, a bit stunned at this turn of events.
“We better get in then before the movie starts. Bye Brandon.” And she gently pushed me inside, leaving behind a very confused bloke.
We found our seats in the practically empty theatre and sat down just as the movie was starting. We sat silently watching the movie, but try as I wanted to, I just couldn’t concentrate.
Tomorrow the whole school would know that I'm going out with Cheryl. I also knew that my parents were going to bombard me with millions of questions resulting in a major headache. I looked at Cheryl’s profile and realised that I didn't care. I was ready. Cheryl was worth it.
I noticed Cheryl looking at my direction when I turned to look back at the screen. I lifted a popcorn to my mouth and felt my pulse beat faster as my attention was diverted to the brunette licking her lips. I couldn’t take it anymore, having her stare at me didn't help much either.
“Let’s get out of here.” I whispered. She slowly smiled.
"Okay” she said, nervously.
We got up and went outside. We got into Cheryl's excuse for a car.
"Where to?” .
"To my place.”
“Oh, okay” She said as she reached to start the car. You look a bit disappointed. I tried not to chuckle.
"Nobody's home.” I added and her smile came back.
I froze for a second and looked at her, as I felt myself get swept away by a surge of emotions.
