Cheryl's POV
“Cheryl...” It must be me mam, why won't you leave us alone?
“Cheryl.” the voice was laced with affection, this definitely can't be me mam.
“Mmm” I moaned sleepily from under the duvet.
“Wake up. I have something to tell you.” *Duck* off and come back in the morning, whoever you are.
I just groaned and stuck me hand out from under the covers and waved at whoever that was there to go away.
“It’s about Kimberley.” Bugger, it's Sarah.
“Sarah, please. I can’t right now.”
“I went to see her.”
At that I removed the covers from over me face and looked wide eyed at her.
“You did what?!”
“I went to her house and I talked to her.”
“Sarah!...” I started with a frown. But she stopped us and continued, by now I was wide awake.
"First the maid answered so I said I was a friend from her school cause I knew she wouldn’t answer otherwise.”
I now looked at her with interest.
“Kimberley came to the door and she had this shiner on her eye and a nasty bruise on her forehead, and…”
At that, I suddenly straightened up.
“She what?! How did that happen?!” Imma kill whoever that did that to you Kimberley, I sure will. Brandon will top the list, if you won't name anybody
“I don’t know, but…”
I quickly jumped out of me bed and started putting on me shoes.
“What are you doing?” asked Sarah in surprise at me odd behaviour.
“I don’t care if she’s not talking to us. I have to see her.” I definitely wasn’t going to stay in bed when the girl I loved was hurt.
“Ok, but let me tell you what she said first.”
“Tell me later, Sarah.” I said as I lunged for the door.
“She thinks that you and I are lovers.”
That made us freeze in me place, hand on the doorknob. I turned to Sarah and gave her an astonished look.
“She saw us hugging at the coffee shop and thought we were kissing.”
“What? That’s stupid.”
“I know.” Sarah laughed. “But tell your jealous girlfriend that.”
“So that’s why she was acting that way.” I said, a smile making it's way on me face. “That’s wonderful!”
"Huh?”
“You know what I mean. Ok I gotta see her now. I can’t wait any longer.” And I ran down the stairs.
“Cheryl, wait!” Sarah ran after us.
“Dad, I’m going out!” I shouted and stormed out the door, only then realizing I had called Simon 'dad'. I smiled even more as Simon stuck his head from the kitchen door and waved goodbye with a surprised look. Probably wondering what two crazy teenagers are up to now.
"Cheryl wait!” Sarah panted.
“Not now, Sarah” I said as I tried to start me car which just wouldn't budge. I started walking hurriedly outside, almost running along the sidewalk.
Sarah stopped to catch her breath and yelled after us.
“Let me give you a ride there! I have a REAL CAR” I rolled me eyes, I'll kick her later for insulting me gorgeous baby.
I stopped in me tracks. “Good idea.” And retraced me steps, going back to Sarah’s car. I passed Sarah who was leaning on a fence, panting.
“Come on. Let’s go”
She just rolled her eyes and followed us.
****
“Do you want me to wait for you?” Sarah asked us as she dropped us off at Kimberley’s.
"No, it’s ok.”
“What if she won’t see you?” asked Sarah.
I turned and looked determinedly at the impressive mansion and said.
“Oh don't worry, she will.” And I headed to the front door, barely hearing Sarah wish us good luck before driving off.
