Cheryl's POV

Sarah was unusually quiet on the drive to school. I usually need to fight to keep her quiet. I think she could sense that

I wasn't in the mood for talking and didn't press us. She parked the car and neither of us made an attempt to get out.

We just sat there for a while.

"Are you ready?" she asked.

"Yeah. I guess so."

"I didn't say anything to anyone about what really happened. They were all curious about why you missed a couple of

days"

"What did ya say?"

She smirked. I was glad that she was smiling again. "I said you started taking some martial arts classes and that you

are not very good at it yet."

I chuckled at that and shook me head.

"That's not a bad story, Sarah. It'll explain the injuries. I should have told that to 'Joan the Judgeminator '" I

laughed at the new name. I had a lot of free time thinking up nicknames for me mam over the last few days. I think I

liked this one best.

"You are welcome, love!" She slapped us on me knee, suddenly bubbling with energy. "Let's go!"

I got a few odd glances here and there but the only face I wanted to see was Kimberley's. Where could she be? We

strolled through the corridors and I was scanning everywhere for her. Did we always have so many people in school?

"Looking for your sweetheart, eh?"

"*Ducking* hell Sarah. Can you be any less subtle?" She had a naughty twinkle in her eyes and a huge smile that I just wanted to slap the sh!t out of. Her teasing was going to be relentless, I could tell. All I could do was nibble on me lip.

"Why don't you try her locker? Although you may have to fight your way through to get to her, but you are familiar

with hitting boys, aren't you?" she winked playfully.

"Sarah, I'm seriously going to 'hit you' if you don't shut up!" I hissed. She couldn't stop laughing. I'm sure I was

blushing like an arse. God, maybe I should have stayed home after all.

"I could take you." she said unexpectedly, which made us stop and tilt me head. She was looking us up and down,

sizing us up.

"Yeah, I could definitely take you." she decided, "Plus, I have two good fists and you only have one!" she laughed.

"Hi-laaa-re-us, Sarah" I droned.

"I know! AND I have most of my classes with 'her'. Aren't you very jealous right now? You are aren't you? Are you

going to start beating me up too?" She nudged us playfully. I was annoyed at her teasing and she was right. I was

jealous. Damn.

We walked slowly to her locker and she dug out a stack of paper and dumped it on me arm. "There you go! I think

that's all the stuff you missed. Not too much."

"Uh -- thanks." I sighed, fumbling with the load.

"Anything else?" she asked. I was a little confused with her attitude. She was just standing there.

"You are lettin' us go alone? Aren't you going to follow us around all day and embarrass us?"

"Why? Do you 'want' me to? I could if you'd like?" She was playing us.

"I wouldn't 'like'. I've had enough teasing from you for now, thank you very much" She just giggled and sent us on me

way. I don't know why it had to be on the other side of the world though -- me locker that is. I'm always late for

everything. Where are me keys?

"sh!t." I muttered as I stood in front of me locker. It's amazing how lost you are with just one good hand. Where are

me keys!
