"I am very disappointed in you guys," Evelyn told us as we left the truck.
"Why? The guy said he was impressed with us and if he could he would not send us home," Jojo answered.
"You all lied to me from the beginning. And do you realize that you are also being kicked out because of vandalism?" she snapped, crossing her arms.
"Yes, ma'am. We do. But the guy said that he wishes he could not kick us out because it was all jokes, but he can't because of rules. And once again, he was impressed, not angry," I replied.
"Well he may be okay with this, but I'm surely not! I expected more from you guys. In fact, I liked and trusted you all. I'm very disappointed," she snapped.
"If you're going to complain about how disappointed you are even though we did nothing wrong, I don't think we have any words for you," Martin snapped back.
"Watch your mouth, Martin!" Evelyn snapped.
"We are all going home anyway, so what difference does it make what we say to you now?" Jojo questioned.
"Just go pack your bags," Evelyn answered, and turned away. I assumed that meant she was admitting defeat.
"Hey, Leighanne. Can I talk to you for a minute?" Courtney asked.
"Sure," I said, turning around and crossing my arms.
"Look, I'm really sorry, okay. I'm such an idiot. You're a good person and I shouldn't have been so rude to you like that. Can you please try to talk to my counselor about not sending me home? We can start over from there. And I'll do anything you want," she said. I felt surprised she wasn't mad at me. But I knew she wasn't being genuine. I wasn't about to fall for it. This was my chance to tell her off.
"Courtney," I started. I took a moment to think about all of the thing I hated about her. "You abandoned me for the popular kids, used our friendship to pry what you wanted out of me, bullied me, made a prank targeting me, used the trust of the people in your cabin to achieve that, intentionally tried to hurt me, and intentionally tried to hurt my cabin mates. Now you're back to your tricks again. You're trying to regain my trust so you can hurt me again while getting what you want," I told her calmly, "I hope your mother really punishes you hard because I will never trust you or forgive you for anything in my life."
"I know that now and I'm genuinely sorry. We can choose to have this not be over yet. We can be friends. Please?" she pleaded.
"You're not my friend. I don't even think you were ever my friend. Our friendship was over a long time ago. In fact, I know now that it didn't even exist. But nice try, you douche bag dingus," I said.
"Fine. I see how it is. I understand now. I'll stay out of your life now alright?!" she snapped.
"Right. I'm not even gonna let you into my life. I know that the nut you are will try to get back in but I won't let you. Have a great rest of your summer and good luck with your mom," I snapped.
"Have a nice life," Courtney sneered.
"Oh thanks. You too," I snapped back and walked away.
"Good for you!" Martin congratulated me.
