Misunderstood (Mettaton x reader)

You were sitting in the skelebros living room, Sans sat next to you as you continued to look down.

On the tv, there was an MTT show going on. You always liked the robot, and the like like type. He just fascinated you with his looks, his style. Everything about him blew you away. But, Mettaton was hanging a lot around Papyrus, so you thought he would rather hang with him than you. You two knew each other by Paps, and were friends, but he barely talked to you.

"Hey, kid. What's up?" Sans asked.

"Huh? Ohh! Nothing, nothing at all!!" You said rather quickly.

"You sure kiddo?" Sans asked again.

"yeah yeah!!" You replied nervously.

Sans was about to say something before the door was violently opened.

"Papy~! Darling are you here?" That voice instantly made you blush. You knew it was Mettaton without even looking.

"Oh (Y/N), darling! Have you seen Papy anywhere?" He asked you.

Your heart broke. It seems that you were right, he doesn't like you very much. The thought made you even more sad then you already were.

"I think he's in his room Mettaton." You answered without meeting his gaze.

"Thank you darling~!" Mettaton said before rushing into Papy's room.

"...That scumbag..." You heard Sans mumble under his breath.

"I-I'm going n-now Sans. See ya." You quickly said before running out the door, hoping that Sans didn't realise that your voice cracked halfway through your sentence.

-Sans's POV-

She ran off. Something's definitely up, but I already know. She likes Mettaton.

Now, (Y/N) was one of my closest friends, it hurts a bit to see her nearly in tears. I'm gonna tell Mettaton.

Perfect timing.

"(Y/N)!!! DARLING WHERE ARE YOU???" Mettaton screamed.

Ugh.

"Sansy~! Where's (Y/N)? She was here a minute ago." Mettaton asked.

"She left. She got hurt that you're barely talking to her now." I said between gritted teeth.

"Oh dear! I better go and apologise! Sans, you wouldn't know where the darling is now?" Mettaton asked.

"Maybe at the Waterfall, she really likes it over there and goes there on a daily basis." I told him.

After that he just left.

Thank god. (Y/N) better keep him away from here.

-(Y/N)'s POV-

You sat next to an echo flower, back against the wall.

"He's ignoring me. But, why?" You whispered.

You started to sing a song that your parents taught you before you fell down here.

You would not believe your eyes

If ten million fireflies

Lit up the world as I fell asleep

When you sang, the echo flower would repeat the song to you.

As they fill the open air

And leave teardrops everywhere

You'd think me rude but I would just

Stand and stare

The echo flower seemed to carry the song onto the flowers nearby, because the whole area was filled with the song you were singing to.

I'd like to make myself believe

That planet earth turns slowly

It's hard to say that I'd rather stay

Awake when I'm asleep

Cause everything is never as it seems

You finish and you can hear clapping.

"(Y/N) Darling~! That was beautiful! I came to apologise." Mettaton said softly.

You blushed way too much.

"A-Apologise for w-what??" You panicked.

"For ignoring you my dear! It's just I was asking Paps about what you liked and things like that. I was too shy to ask you." Mettaton hesitated.

"I'm sorry if it seemed like I was ignoring you darling~! I love you." Mettaton said as he kissed you softly.

This day turned out pretty well for ya, huh?
