Hermione and Fred ran out of the castle down to the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. Apparently, it was a trip day for the other years, so most of Hogwarts was out of the castle. Their trip ended at four o'clock, which meant they only had about two more hours in Hogmeade.
Hermione spotted Ron in an instant, and walked right up to him. Luna smiled at the sight of Hermione, and looked a little bit confused when Fred was trailing behind her.
This should be good, Ron and Fred thought for two way different reasons.
"Hey, babe." Ron greeted offering Hermione a sip of his firewhiskey.
Hermione, instead of saying something, reach her arm out and slapped Ron across his cheek, which left a red mark and a stinging sensation.
Fred's eyes widened at Hermione's sudden hostility, and he couldn't help but grin. That was something they had in common, Ron was an enemy.
Ron turned to see Fred's delighted face. "You want one, too?" Ron asked, raising his fist with the hand that wasn't covering his cheek. Fred just kept his mouth shut.
"What was that for!" Ron asked, facing Hermione again.
"What's the matter, babe?" Hermione emphasized. "Oh yeah, I'm not your girlfriend!" Hermione yelled at him.
Fred was laughing now. Luna hit Fred on the arm, reminding him of how he tantalizes Ron until the point where Ron can't handle it. "Fred, be nice." Luna said. "The nargles feed upon rudeness."
Fred shook her off. Hermione grabbed Fred's arm and dragged his laughing self outside. He told her how funny it was, and they walked back up to the castle.
Something was different though. The castle was filled with people! Hermione didn't notice, she was too busy watching Fred's and her own feet.
"Hermione, isn't everyone in Hogsmeade?" Fred asked.
"Third through six, maybe seven. Why?" She responded, noticing the concerned tone in his voice. She looked where Fred was looking, at the castle. The Death Eaters had come. Why didn't Draco tell her? She didn't have time to be infuriated by him.
She told Fred to follow everything she says, no matter what. She bolted up to the Entrance Hall and spelled were being cast every which way, shattering things, minor explosions, people falling down hurt or dead.
Hermione ran for the staircase and Fred followed her, casting many inverbal spells behind them. Hermione turned to her left and cast an inverbal 'stupefy' at a Death Eater. She reached the top step and ran right into Ariana Cross.
"Hermione, follow me. I can keep you and Fred alive." She was acting like she was on the good side. "I already have Harry, Ginny, Ron, Luna, Neville, and Nova safe in a classroom. Please!" She begged.
Hermione didn't want to go. But she had her friends. How did Luna and Ron get there so fast? But was Ariana tricking her? Maybe, but if she was telling the truth, her and Fred had to help save them. They were in trouble.
Hermione nodded, and helped Fred by getting a Death Eater away from him. Fred and Hermione rushed after Ariana, who supposedly was leading them to their friends.
Ariana entered the classroom. The people Ariana listed were indeed in the room. Trapped in a cage, just like the forcefield Voldemort had on Nagini. Their wands were laid on a table behind Ariana. Nobody was armed.
"Harry!" Hermione yelled, banging on the forcefield. She got a shock in her hand right away.
"Nova!" Fred hollered.
The two outside the cage were disarmed. They were pulled into the cage as well, and couldn't help but yell rude things at Ariana.
"Shush, shush." She said. "Welcome to the final battle, started by yours truly." She said selfishly. "But, I wasn't alone. Say hello to your beloved friend, Draco Malfoy."
Draco walked miserably out if the corner, where nobody even thought to look in. He looked sick, tortured. He looked horrid, his blonde hair going everywhere, his eyes bloodshot, and his muscles looked weak.
"Draco!" Almost everyone shouted, including Fred.
"What the bloody hell?" Fred yelled.
"That traitor!" Neville grouched.
"STOP!" Hermione repeated over the people yelling in the forcefield.
Nova stepped towards Hermione, wrapping her arms around her torso. Hermione hugged her back, assuring Draco doesn't want to be there. Nova had tears in her eyes. Fred noticed, too. He came and hugged Nova from behind. He picked her up like a toddler, and held her over his shoulder.
"Fred, she's eleven." Hermione said.
He ignored her as Nova cried in his shoulder.
"Now," Ariana began again. She explained her plans about the halfbloods advantage and how she's going to get revenge.
Harry and everyone else gasped. Harry, Nova and Neville were the only halfblooded people in the forcefield. Hermione didn't know if Luna was pure or half. Nova was, because her pureblooded mother married a muggleborn.
"So, why don't we start killing you off one by one." Ariana suggested. Draco rolled his bloodshot eyes.
"Who should I start with?" Ariana asked. "Draco, guard their wands." Draco followed.
Ariana took down the forcefield. Right before everyone scrambled for their wands, she tied them all up with one simple spell. Except for Hermione.
"You first?" Ariana asked. "Okay!"
Ariana raised her wand. Hermione ran towards Draco, who she hoped would defend her, reaching for her wand. Ariana screeched "Avada Kedavra!"
Hermione fell to the floor right in front of Draco's trembling body.
"NO!" Everyone yelled.
