Chapter 18

>Danny’s POV<

I parked my car and pocketed my phone quickly. I made my way into the mall and to my phone company.

The scent of fast food and humans were everywhere. A weird scent crossed my nose as I went further into the mall. A scent that I’d never smelt before, and it made my wolf nervous and jumpy. That was the most unsettling thing, that and that the scent was getting stronger no matter where I went, as if whoever or whatever it was, was following me.

I quickened my pace until I got into the store. I passed them my phone and told them that I wanted to activate it with my old plan.

“Right away sir, it will be ready in a minute or two,” I nodded and looked around quickly.

“I’m just going to look for anything I might need,” the store clerk nodded his head and went to work. I started to look through the shelves for anything that I might need for my phone.

The scent crossed my nose again, it was stronger then the other times. I looked around the store and met the eyes of a giant man. He was standing in the doorway to the store. His eyes flashed cobalt then went back to a grey colour. He made quick, long strides towards me. I wanted to stand my ground, but with this many humans around I knew better then to do that though.

I made a quick movement and hid behind a shelf that held a few different phone chargers on it. I could hear his heavy breathing and footsteps as he moved around the store. I went to move around the shelf when he stopped me. A low growl came from deep within his chest, I growled back in return.

“What are you doing here wolf?” His voice was deep.

“I’m getting my phone activated, what are you doing here…?” The man glared down at me.

“I am looking for someone who I hold dear,” the man growled again. “And I find you here wolf.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Where is he?”

“Where is who?”

“My son,” he growled deeply as he pushed me flush against the shelving unit.

“I don’t even know you, why would I know where your son is?”

“Cause it was wolves that took him,” I shook my head.

“It wasn’t me, or my pack, I promise you that,” the man bared his teeth, that were quickly turning into fangs.

“Your lying.”

“I promise you I’m not, if you want I can allow you safe passage through my territory, and I’ll make sure that you can search everywhere in my pack,” he stopped growling for a second before starting up again.

“If I find my son, I will have my vengeance,” I nodded my head.

“Understood, but may I ask you something?”

“What?” His tone was threatening.

“What are you?”

“I’m a werebear,” my eyes went wide for a second before my mind registered what he said. The store clerk called my name before I could say anything to the werebear.

“Thank you,” I grabbed my phone from him and went to leave. I looked for the big werebear, but he was already gone. I tried to follow his scent but it lead everywhere. With a sigh I gave up and started to walk back to my car. When I got outside I could see him leaning against my car, staring at me. I picked up my pace a bit and got to my car. “I would have walked out here with you.”
