Mercy's POV
I could tell Chandler was mad about Kirkman giving the part he'd already promised me away, but he sang me to sleep anyways. His voice was like honey as the notes of every song seeped into my ears and to my heart. I knew I was going to miss him and the family I'd made here. I could only imagine how devastated Valentine would be knowing she'd have to leave Grayson.
Speaking of them, they came bursting in the door shouting about whatever they did today. I felt Chandler jerk up and silently tell them to be quiet. They shut up went into another room.
I sat up and moved my fringe bangs out of my face. Chandler sat up, too, and wrapped his arms around me again. "You know," he spoke. "You leaving won't change anything for us."
I shook my head and sniffled. "Yes it will. It will. I'll go back to L.A., you'll just get more and more famous, and you'll forget all about little Mercy Evans: that girl you used to know."
He grabbed me firmly by my shoulders and looked right into my eyes. "That girl that I love. Listen, Mercy. I love you, and that will never change. No matter what."
I still just couldn't believe him. I shook my head, and the tears never stopped.
I was about to talk back with more negativity, but my mom poked her head in the door.
"Mercy, sweetie..." she started, coming all the way in the room. "You should start packing up." She looked at me sympathetically and left.
