"I love you," he said.
My eyes widened as I looked at Toby. He looked away, embarrassed. I blushed and I looked at my toes.
"I understand if you don't feel the same, I'm sorry. I just felt like I needed to say it. I'm sorry, Jacie," he said, getting up.
I caught his arm and stood, whirling him around and squeezing him in a tight hug. He stood still, surprised. I looked up and kissed his cheek. His jaw dropped, and he tried to say something, but nothing came out. I smiled and put my hand oer his mouth.
"Toby, I feel the same, no matter what anyone else says. Toby, just promise me one thing," I said.
He nodded and took the hand away from his mouth and put it on his shoulder.
"Promise me that if anything goes wrong, we'll still be best friends, no matter what," I said, and he nodded.
I buried my face in his shoulder and took a deep breath, breathing in the smell of coffee and Axe. Toby smelled good, not to sound awkward or anything. He pulled back and plopped onto the couch.
"So, what do you wanna do?" he asked.
I just shrugged and sat next to him. Gryphon waddled up, wagging his tail. Toby picked him up and put him on my lap. Gryphon looked up at me and licked my hand. I smiled and scratched behind his ears and down his back, making him thump his foot.
"You wanna see something cool?" Toby asked, picking up Gryphon.
I nodded and watched as Toby pulled out a hula-hoop and a couple of dog treats. It took a minute of convincing, but he eventually got Gryphon to jump through the hoop. I clapped and called Grypon over, petting him. He gave a little yap and walked away.
"Yeah, he's a great dog. Say, why don't you get a pet?" Toby suggested.
I shrugged. "I don't know, I love animals, I'm just not sure I wanna spend money on that kind of thing, but hey, I'm a YouTube Partner now. I might as well," I said, getting up.
I went back into my apartment and grabbed my purse, slipping on some knee-high sneakers. They were some of my favorite shoes, besides my normal slip-on sneakers. I pulled my hair into a sloppy bun and put on a ball cap. I put on a dark blue jacket and walked out to where Toby was waiting. We got in his car and drove to the pet store.
I stepped in and looked around at all of the dogs and cats. I walked through the aisles, peering into kennels. That's when I noticed the little gray fur-ball by the rodents. It was a cute little chinchilla, with big ears and a fluffy tail. I immediately fell in love with it, asking the employee for it. He nodded and opened the cage, scooping the chinchilla in his hands. Toby gave me a strange look.
"Huh, I figured you would go for that German Shepard puppy," he said, shrugging.
I paid for the chinchilla and all of its supplies, grabbing his cage and carrying him out to the car. I looked at my new pet the whole way back, watching him twitch his whiskers. He was so cute! As soon as we got back to the apartment complex I rushed to my apartment, leaving the door open for Toby. I opened the door to his cage and held my chinchilla in my hands. Toby came up behind me and squatted to eye level with my pet.
"What are you going to name the little guy?" he asked, rubbing behind the chinchilla's ears.
I sat in thought, going through every name I could think of.
"What about Drake," I suggested.
He raised an eyebrow. "For a fluffy chinchilla?" he teased.
I sighed and thought. "What about Anigo?" I offered.
He looked up. "Isn't that the name of the Spaniard in the movie, The Princess Bride?" he asked.
I nodded and held up Anigo. "Hello, my name is Anigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die," I said in an accent, waving around his paws as if he were holding a sword.
Toby chuckled and got up. "Perfect fit,"he said.
I nodded and sat in front of my laptop. I put on my headset and turned on the webcam.
"Hello, fellow nerds and crazy peeps who watch this. I got a new pet, a chinchilla. I want you guys to meet Anigo Montoya, the newest addition to my house," I said, holding him up. I waved his paw and made him repeat what I did earlier. "If you get that movie reference, subscribe and be the first to tweet me about it, and you win a free t-shirt!" I said, cuddling Anigo.
"Anyways, let's look at some Twitter questions," I said, pulling out my phone.
I opened it up and waited for them to load. "Alright, here's one that reads, 'If you could meet any other YouTube Partner, who would it be?' Well, let me just say I've already met Tobuscus, so I'm going to have to say SMOSH. Next question! 'Are you single? If not, will you go out with me?' Well, sorry to crush your dreams, but I'm in a relationship already, and it's not Austin, it's already on my page that we broke up. Again, sorry, but I don't date total strangers," I said, looking across the room at Toby.
I had an idea. Crazy? Possibly. Insane? Most likely.
"In fact, he just so happens to be here right now. Well, come on over," I said, gesturing to Toby.
He hesitated, but came over in the end.
"You guys may know him, but for those of you who don't this is Toby, my boyfriend, a.k.a. Tobuscus, " I said, pulling Toby onto the bed next to me.
He ran his hand through his hair and smiled. "Hello, audience. Yes, I'm dating Jacilic, but that doesn't mean I'll stop making videos. Hell no! It just means I'll be doing some more co-op with her, that's all," he said.
I let him cuss because it was going to my channel, and I cuss all the time, so it doesn't matter.
"Anyways, more questions. Oh, I love this one! 'Would you rather be hit by a bus driven by a hater or go the rest of your life without bacon?' Hit by the bus! Anything but the bacon," I said, hugging Anigo close to me.
"Anyways, I've gotta go. I will make more soon, I promise! Jacilic the arsonist shall return! Well, I've gotta run, so suck it," I said, turning off the camera.
I put Anigo back in his cage and closed the little door.
"Are you sure you wanted to do that?" Toby asked nervously. I rolled my eyes.
"Well yeah, we are dating, aren't we? They might as well know," I said, giving him a playful shove.
"Well what if it doesn't work out?" he continued.
"We're still gonna be friends, so it'll be fine," I said.
I posted the video and we sat around for hours, talking and making jokes. I eventually noticed all of the comments on the video I had just posted. Almost all of them said how cute Anigo was and that they were freaking out because of me and Toby dating. Some were haters, though. Most of them were probably girls who wanted Toby, or guys who were obsessed with me, but one stood out in particular.
'I asked you out, and you treated me like a child. lets see how you like it when i spread that you r a total jerk and inappropriate' it read.
Toby told me not to worry about it, but it still worried me. It was a YouTuber that got a lot of views and subscribers, a lot of them following me too. If they believed him, I might lose a bunch of subscribers, and it would start a chain reaction. Oh shit, crazy dude on the web could ruin me.
