I rushed over to her.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
She fumbled with her phone and raised it back to her ear.
"Hey Drake," she said shakily.
Drake?
"Yeah, sorry about that. You just surprised me. Yeah, sure. Yeah, tomorrow is okay. Okay, see you then," she said.
She hung up and looked up at me. I waited for an explanation. She let out a deep breath.
"My brother just called, and he's wanting to come over to my place tomorrow," she said.
"I didn't know you have a brother," I said.
"Yeah, well, it's been a while since I've seen him. I love him, but he's been traveling," she said.
I nodded and got up. I gave her my hand and pulled her up.
"Is he like your dad?" I asked.
She shook her head and smiled.
"He's like me, only he isn't as stubborn when it comes to new people or apologies," she said.
I grinned.
"Good, otherwise I might not live through the week," I said, relieved.
She kissed me on the cheek and opened the door.
"Be over at my place at around 10:00, okay?" she said.
She walked out and over to her apartment. I walked into my room and collapsed on my bed. I wonder what he'll be like? Will he like me? It was bad enough with her dad, but thank gosh I cleared it up with him. Hopefully this goes better.

I woke up and yawned. I walked into the kitchen and made some coffee. I stretched while I waited for it to finish. I checked the clock. It was 9:45. Shit! I needed to hurry. I ran into my room and changed into a maroon t-shirt and some jeans. I grabbed my mug and Jacie's and filled them with coffee. I slipped on some sneakers and rushed over to her place. I made sure my hair wasn't as messy as usual. I wanted to make an impression. I knocked on the door with my forehead and waited. Jacie opened the door and smiled.
"Come on in," she said, letting me pass.
She took her mug and sipped her coffee. We sat on the couch and waited. I checked the clock. 9:58. He should be here any minute now. There was a knock on the door, and it opened. A tall, tan man stepped in. He had on some jeans and a gray muscle shirt with a dark denim vest. The vest had different signs sewn onto it, and he was wearing sunglasses. A bandanna was wrapped around his head and he had on worn work boots. I could tell he was a biker. Jacie got up and ran over to him. She jumped and wrapped herself around him. Her feet were wrapped around him and she looked up at him, smiling.
"Drake!" she said excitedly.
He smiled and squeezed her back. She got down and he pulled his sunglasses off, revealing brown eyes. They were swimming with happiness.
"Hey sis. Good to see you," he said.
He had dark stubble on his chin. He looked over at me.
"Who's this guy?" he asked, nodding in my direction.
She led him over to the couch.
"Drake, this is my boyfriend Toby. Toby, this is my older brother Drake," she introduced us.
I shook his hand.
"Nice to meet you. You treating my little sis well?" he asked.
I grinned.
"I don't know, I think I am, but it depends on what she says," I said.
He chuckled and sat down.
"So, how old are you?" he asked.
"28. What about you?" I asked.
He slipped off his boots and leaned back.
"I'm 30, but I act like I'm 24. Hey sis, where's this guy live?" he asked her.
Jacie shrugged.
"He lives down the hall," she answered.
He smiled and patted the spot next to him. She sat down and leaned against him.
"I missed you," she said.
"I missed you too. Now, how did you guys meet?" he asked.
Curious guy.
"I had one of my nightmares and rolled off the bed, breaking a glass and cutting myself. He was walking by and saw some blood by the door and tried to come in and help, but the door was locked, so he ran into it. I was almost done cleaning up the mess, but I unlocked the door and opened it. He was laying on the floor and holding his head. We introduced ourselves and he asked if I was okay, that kind of thing. He offered for me to come over, so I did, and we became friends. After a while he built up the nerve to ask me out," she explained.
He laughed.
"You ran into a door?" he asked me.
I nodded and ran my hand through my hair. He took off his bandanna and picked up a bag he carried in with him. He pulled out some swim trunks.
"You guys wanna go swimming?" he offered. I nodded and got up.
"I'll go grab my trunks," I said.
I left and grabbed my trunks, slipping them on. When I came back Jacie was already in her bathing suit and so was her brother. Let me tell you, the guy was ripped. He led us down to the parking lot. I looked at his motorcycle.
"Let's take my car," I suggested.
He nodded and got in the driver's seat.
"I know just the place," he explained.
I nodded and got in the passenger seat. Jacie climbed in and we were off. We drove past buildings until we were on open road. We drove until we were in the middle of nowhere. He pulled up to a creek and parked. He turned off the engine and got out.
"We're here," he said.
I got out and slipped off my shirt. Jacie took off her shorts and shirt and ran to the creek. She jumped in without a second thought and came back up.
"Holy shit it's cold," she squealed.
I went in after her and splashed her. She laughed and splashed me back. Her brother wadded in and made a wave of water strong enough to knock me over. I came back up and spit out creek water.
"You ever been in a crik, boy?" he asked.
I nodded. Whenever I was little, though. I almost forgot how nice it was. Jacie got out and walked to the car.
"I'm checking my phone," she called.
When she was out of earshot her brother waded over. He looked very intimidating.
"Have you been sleeping with my sister?" he asked.
What?
