Never Noticed (Embry Call Love Story)

"Frankie!" Her mother called her.

"Yes, mother?" She asks

"Want you to meet some people." Her mom, Michelle nodded towards a man and this boy, more like guy on steroids.

"Hello" Frankie says politely.

"Hello, I'm Daniel Cameron and this is my son Jared Cameron" Daniel says while shaking Frankie's hand nicely.

"Hi" Jared answers with a grin on his face.

"I want to inform you on something. This is my new boyfriend" Michelle explains to Frankie beaming brightly. Frankie was caught completely off guard by her mother's answer so she cleared her throat.

"Come again?" Frankie asked. Hoping she heard her mother wrong. Her mom couldn't do this. He had a kid, that wasn't why Frankie was against her mom dating this guy. Her mom can barely take care of herself let alone a boyfriend and his son.

"We're dating" She replied with a little less excitement that time.
"Ohh awesome" Frankie faked a smile. She felt sorry for the man he didn't know what he was in for.

"Jared and Daniel are moving in, in a couple of weeks. We've actually been dating a few months, but never told either of you two." Frankie nodded slowly.

"I'm taking a walk. Jared, would you like to come?" Frankie asked inviting Jared along. He looked at his dad for permission; his dad nodded and Jared walked out the door along with Frankie.

"So, is your dad seems like a great guy?" She starts conversing.

"Yeah he is, he's a great father and is one of my role models." Jared explains while grinning and Frankie returned the grin. Frankie has never known how to idolize someone. Her  family members aren't the best people to look up to.

"Well that's good. So I want to explain something to you"

"Okay, shoot"

"My mom. Don't let your dad date her any longer. Don't move in. Just don't" She told him with all seriousness in her voice.

"That's rude" Jared said and snorted
"No, I'm not trying to be rude it's just that how should I put this. My mom isn't the best person. She married my father at 17 who soon became a drunk. She's been in and out of rehab for as long as I can remember. She barely knows how to take care of herself let alone a man and his son. I take care of myself. My mom is nothing, but t a failure. I love my mom because she's well my mom, but she doesn't have her shit together and if your dad continues to date her he's gonna get screwed over and I don't want him to. That's all I'm saying"

Jared nodded as if he understood. "So  you're saying I should ruin my dad's happiness?" He questioned stunned.

"No, All I'm saying is that your dad is going to get screwed over one day or another. Well we better get back. Talk to your dad get him to break up with her just do it it's for his own and your own good" She told him and they started running back up the road and to the driveway of Frankie's house.

Later that night, once Jared and Daniel were gone Frankie was watching TV. It was a Saturday and only 8 p.m

"Shouldn't you be asleep?" Her mom spoke in a snotty tone

"Mother, it's only 8 p.m and it's a Saturday"

"Ohh" was all her mother responded with. "So Daniel called"

"Mhm" was Frankie's response without even taking her attention away from the TV

"He said that Jared told him this crazy story that you said he should break up with me."

"Ohh yeah I know" Frankie answered still not even paying attention to her mother. She then started to laugh at the TV from the television show she was watching

"Look at me when I'm talking to you" Her mother basically shouted

"Would rather not" Her mother then got up and walked over to the TV and shut if off

"You told him that story?" Her mother asked fuming from what she had heard

"Actually, yes I do. I don't want Daniel and his poor son screwed over Michelle!" Frankie yelled at her mother. Michelle's face started to turn bright red. She wanted to hit her daughter. She had only done it a few times, but never regretted doing it.

"Hit me. I dare you" Frankie scowled while narrowing her eyes at her mother.

"Say anymore crazy stories and your grounded Missy" Her mother then stomped out of the room.

"Yeah right, you wish you could ground me and they aren't stories if they're true!" Frankie shouted to Michelle who had gone into the other room and slammed the door shut.
"Bitch" mumbled Frankie.

9 months later

"Can't believe they go married" Frankie grumbled and Jared chuckled.

"it's not funny" Frankie scolded him making him laugh more. Jared was Daniel's best man while Frankie was Michelle's maid of honor.

After the wedding they all went home and hung out for a bit. Daniel and Michelle went to their room while Jared and Frankie stayed in the den watching television. Around midnight, Frankie doesn't remember falling asleep, but she did and Jared carried her up to her bedroom. At around 2 in the morning Frankie her someone mutter a few incoherent curse words so she got up out of her bed and went to investigate.

"Jared?" She questioned as he was walking down the stairs. He turned and looked at her and walked over to her.

"Shhh. Go back to sleep, Princess" He told her while using the nickname he gave her and kissed her on the forehead.

"Where are you going?" She asked hoping to get a good answer.

"I can't tell you" He responded. it killed him not to be able to tell his step sister he loves her to death they are super close.

"Why not?" She asked puzzled. She wasn't hurt or sad. She just didn't like Jared keeping secrets.

"I just can't. But I promise in time I will tell you" He promised her.

"Really?" She asked. He nodded.

"I cross my heart and hope to die" He replied making and 'x' across his heart with his fingers. She giggled slightly. "Now will you please go back to sleep?" He asked no more like begged her. She nodded and turned back around walking back into her room and shutting the door behind her.
