Chapter 32

Annabelle...

"New year, new me."

"Louis, I swear to God, if you say that one more time, I will drag you into the ocean with a rock tied to your feet." I giggled at Niall's third threat to Louis.

"Seriously, if I knew you'd be so annoying on New Years Day, I would've slept till tomorrow." Melanie added.

"Come on guys, perk up. We gotta start January first on a high."

"Louis, you're gonna be high up in the sky, in the jet engine of a plane, in hacked up pieces, if you don't shut up."

Okay, so Niall's fourth threat.

"Guys, let him have his fun. He'll crash from his sugar high in a little bit." I reasoned, trying to get everyone in the room off Lou's back.

"Eleanor, control your man." Liam teased. Liam was on my side, seeing the humor of this, while everyone else was massively annoyed.

"Seriously, who let him eat twenty Lindor Chocolates, and a whole bottle of apple cider? And how is it possible that he's been on this sugar high for eight hours!? Wasn't last night enough?" Melanie shrieked.

"Hey, it was a grand breakfast." Louis defended.

"Wow, happy new years to me." She grumbled while stalking off to the kitchen.

"Aw, Mel, don't be like that." Louis joked, earning an eye roll in response.

"Here you are." Niall handed me a Lindor chocolate as he plopped down next to me.

"Speaking of the poison." I laughed while I unwrapped the sweet. "Thanks."

"Do you wanna join me to watch our first sunset of the new year? I mean, it's only January first, twenty sixteen, once, right?" He smiled sweetly at me.

I pretended to think. "I don't know, if I refuse, will I get one of those colorful and imaginative threats of yours?" I smirked.

"Depends. Is that you refusing?" He played along.

"Nah, I don't feel like being told you're gonna hang me from the fan by my toes, while you let a hundred leeches suck out my blood." I snorted.

"Hey, that was a good one!" He whined.

"Sure it was, Niall." I ruffled his fluffy hair. "Anyways, should we get going? It seems like it's getting dark."

"The fact that we have to go watch the sunset at four thirty makes me sick. I can't wait for the longer days to come."

"Same." I agreed with him.

We snuck out of the room to slip on sweaters and shoes, and made our way out the door without being noticed. It was only a ten minute walk to the beach from our house. I loved living so close to the ocean. It gave me such peace, along with a calm state of mind.

Since it was the evening of New Years day, and everyone was probably exhausted from partying so late last night, the beach was completely empty. Well, with the exception of a few people here for the same reason as us. To watch the sunset. A little to the far right, just over Niall's shoulder, I could see a mother with her two kids. They were huddled up on a blanket, and the cuteness of it made me want to hug them. When I looked to my left, I saw a young couple. They were probably about the same age as Niall and I, maybe a year or two older. They were also cuddling on a blanket, and they looked too cute for words. The boy was whispering things into her ear, and she was giggling and blushing like mad.
