Walking Through the Time Capsule
Chapter 58

Niall...
The run to the front door felt like miles, but the minute I burst through the doorway, it didn't matter. The house looked like a mess, but none of that mattered to me.
"Where is she?" I shouted to anyone that could answer me.
In all the polaroids, she looked like she was in a dark room, so my instincts immediately went to finding a door. I passed by multiple officers who were taking pictures for evidence, and threw open every door until I found one that was already open with officers pouring in and out of it.
Well obviously it's gonna be that one, stupid.
I ignored the voice in my head, and the presence of my friends on my tail, as I darted down the stairs into the basement.
"Where is she?" I repeated, my voice echoing through the dimly lit basement. There were too many officers in my way to see anything, and the no response I was getting was beginning to piss me off. They could get pictures of their stupid evidence and shit later, I needed to get to Annabelle.
I pushed through all the officers, and felt my heart constrict as I reached her crumbled up body. I heard all my friends gasp behind me, but ignored them as I dropped to my knees and hovered over her.
Her eyes were swollen and squinted, and it seemed almost like she was looking straight through my soul. She definitely wasn't mentally here anymore.
"I'm sorry, Niall." She croaked in a quiet, barely whisper.
My heart squeezed to little shrivels as her eyelids closed and her head rolled to the side.
"No." I breathed, quickly lifting her into my body. Maybe just a little warmth, and feeling my touch, would bring her back.
"Annabelle, it's okay now. I found you." I cracked through tears that started to restrict my throat. "I'm right here." I cradled her tightly into my arms, feeling the presence of our friends huddled around us.
"Oh my God." I heard Harry mumble, taking in how awful she looked.
There wasn't a normal colored patch of skin anywhere on her body. It looked like she was dipped in blue, purple and red paint. She had blood covering her, and dripping from practically everywhere. Her hair was all matted and tangled around her raw and frozen face. It also finally registered to me as I held her, that she was laying here, in this room full of grown men, completely naked.
I quickly became angry and protective. In my mind, none of them were here to help, they were all a threat.
"Don't look at her." I barked, using one of my arms to cover her lower privates, and tucking her more into me to block her chest. "Someone get a blanket." I demanded.
A paramedic came into my view and tossed me a thin white sheet. It was quickly dyed red as I wrapped it securely around her body. I didn't have a moment to blink before I felt hands prying her out of my grip.
"Hey! Stop!" I pushed them away, possessively tucking her closer into me. "Don't touch her!" My mind was a haze.
I started to cry as I felt the hands become more forceful. "Don't take her away from me." I blubbered, refusing to release my grasp.
"Niall! Niall, let go." I heard Louis' voice in my ear. "They're trying to help her! She's dying!" His words snapped something inside of me as I realized what was going on, leaving the illusion of needing to protect her from these people behind. It was then that I realized how slow and shallow her breaths were, along with her fading heart beat.
